Chapter 5
Despite all my careful planning, I had never anticipated that Owen could be this merciless or that he would go so far as to try to end my life with a shovel.
But in this life, I was not going to stand by helplessly and let him take my life again!
Just as Owen’s shovel came hurtling toward my head, I reacted on instinct, reaching out to grab hold of it.
The sharp edge of the shovel sliced deeply into my palm.
Ignoring the searing pain, I gathered all my strength and began to shout for help as I dashed toward the nearest group of people.
“Help! Help! Someone is trying to kill me!”
Owen and Bianca pursued me relentlessly, step by step, their every move calculated to confuse the crowd. They shouted, their voices thick with fake sorrow.

“Honey! I understand that you can’t bear the guilt of accidentally killing my mother. Please, come back! Let’s face it together, all right?”
Bianca quickly added, his voice filled with a forced embarrassment. “Yes, Lily, you didn’t mean to kill your mother–in–law. Owen doesn’t blame you for that, but he’ll be so sad if you keep doing this!”
In an instant, I saw through their plan. This couple was trying to make everyone think I had lost my mind!
By then, I had already reached the main road running through the center of the cemetery. Desperation flooded through me and I turned to face the crowd, shouting at the top of my lungs.
“Please, help me! I didn’t kill my mother–in- law and I’m not crazy! They want to kill me!”
I screamed at the top of my lungs, but no one came to save me. Desperation flooded

me in an instant, filling my chest with cold fear.
The truth was that most people nowadays
are indifferent and unwilling to get involved for fear of being dragged into trouble or blackmailed.
Moreover, Owen and Bianca continued their act behind me, spreading the lie that I had suffered a mental breakdown, so one wanted to get involved.
I thought back to my previous life when I had died alone in a quiet, deserted place just as dawn broke. Was I truly going to meet the same fate again, this time surrounded by people but still abandoned?
No, I refused to give in! No one was coming to help me, so I would have to save myself!
My heart raced as I spotted a tall man wearing sunglasses ahead of me. Without thinking, I rushed forward and threw myself at this man, hugging him.
“Sir, please help me! I’m not crazy! These

two want to kill me. Look at my hand. This was cut by him!”
The man shielded me protectively, stepping in front of me as he glared at Owen and Bianca, who were still pursuing me.
“You two, stop right there! What on earth are you doing, chasing her in broad daylight?”
Owen, his breath heavy with fury, fixed me with a hateful glare. Yet, his voice remained oddly righteous as he responded.
“Sir, this is my wife. She went mad after the earthquake because my mother died in front of her eyes. I need to take her back, to calm her down and help her!”
“Fuck you! Owen Miller, if I hadn’t reacted fast enough, my head would’ve been
smashed by you with that shovel and
buried in a pit! Sir, please save me! I swear, I’m not crazy!”
Owen snarled, his teeth clenched in anger and made a move to circle around the man

with sunglasses, intent on grabbing me.
“Come here!”
I knew the danger. If Owen had his hands on me, it would have been the end. His physical strength, his towering height of 1.8 meters, was more than enough to overpower my weak body.
The moment his hand closed around my arm, I twisted in his grip and turned my head to bite down hard on the back of his hand.
