Chapter 6
“Go away! Even if I die, I won’t go back with you!”
Owen let go of me with a cry of pain. The man with sunglasses seemed to notice something was off. He turned his gaze to Owen, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
“Even if your wife is mad, you should at least try to comfort her. But she’s not as cruel as you, is she?”
“What’s going on here? If you’re really using this as an excuse to harm her, I won’t stand by. I’ll call the police.”
His words had the desired effect, drawing the attention of the people nearby. A glimmer of hope sparked in my chest.
But just as it seemed like I might be saved, Bianca suddenly appeared, charging at me and throwing herself at my leg.
She clung to me desperately, wrapping her

arms tightly around my thigh as she wailed.
“Lily, please come back with us. Owen was just too anxious earlier and lost his temper. He’s so sad seeing you like this. Think about your mother–in–law. Even in the afterlife, she won’t be at peace if you stay like this…”
“Ladies and gentlemen, we’re all heartbroken watching Lily like this. Please,
leave her to us. We’ll take care of her!”
Her cries rang out, silencing everyone, including the man who had helped me.
One by one, the people around us started to speak in Owen and Bianca’s favor.
“Look at this situation. How tragic. His mother just died and now his wife is mad. We can’t intervene. It’s better for them to figure it out themselves.”
“Miss Morgan is such a kind–hearted person. Not only did she help with the burial, but she’s also trying to comfort this

poor man’s mentally unstable wife.”
“And his wife just bit someone! It seems like she really is mentally unstable. Her family should deal with her properly.”
I could feel the tide turning since Bianca’s act had worked. My heart raced with frustration and fear. I could not even find the words to argue anymore and even the man with sunglasses seemed to hesitate.
“I’m sorry, Miss Anderson. Since this gentleman is your husband, it’s best if you handle things at home yourself.”
Without another word, he pushed me roughly aside and I stumbled forward. At that moment, Owen and Bianca rushed toward me, their faces twisted with fake
heartache.
“Lily. Come back with me. We have to bury Mom now. She’s still waiting to be laid to
rest!”
“Yes, Lily. Please calm down. Once we finish burying Mrs. Miller, we’ll take you

home right away. Everything will be fine.”
The two of them closed in on me and I screamed in desperation, trying to run away.
“Get out of the way! Get out of my way! I’m not crazy! I swear, those two actually tried to kill me!”
These people were not going to help me. There was no one I could rely on but myself. My only option was to run. I had to get out of the cemetery and take a taxi far away from here.
Being chased so closely by Owen and Bianca, I did not even have the chance to pull out my phone to call the police.
I ran frantically toward the cemetery gate, but Owen and Bianca shouted loudly behind me. “Stop her! Please, stop her! She’s going crazy and will hurt someone!”
Some bystanders were confused by the commotion, but they actually tried to block my path. I shoved them out of the way,

desperation giving me the strength I needed to keep running.
Just as I was getting farther away from them, I pulled out my phone with
trembling hands and dialed the emergency number.
“Someone is trying to kill me! Help! Cedar Valley Cemetery. I…”
Before I could finish the sentence, Owen finally caught up and kicked me to the ground. He also kicked my phone to pieces.
The pain was overwhelming, but I ignored the sharp throbs of pain in my body and the blood dripping from my hands. I gritted my teeth and pushed myself to roll down the hillside.
My body slammed into bushes, weeds and jagged rocks as I tumbled uncontrollably, causing severe pain all over my body.
