Chapter 9
I quickly clasped my hands behind my back and shut my eyes, pretending to be lifeless. I heard Owen spit in disgust and felt his foot jab at me.
“Tch, she fainted already! Pathetic.”
“My mother must be thrilled, having two daughters–in–law buried with her now.”
My heart pounded and before I could fully grasp what was happening, I heard a thud as Bianca’s body was tossed beside me.
I could not believe this. Owen was not only planning to bury me alive, but he was also too hateful that he murdered Bianca
without a second thought.
It was noon. All the visitors and priests had gone down the mountain and even the staff were away to take a lunch break.
The entire cemetery lay in a heavy silence, leaving us completely alone. Owen seemed

to be more furious than ever as he started shoveling soil onto us, working quickly to bury Bianca Morgan together with me.
I squinted, spotting another shovel propped next to the tomb. Watching for the right moment, I waited until Owen was focused on bending down to shovel more soil. In one swift motion, I jumped up from the grave, grabbed the other shovel and swung it down toward his head.
Owen was caught off guard, letting out a yell as he raised his own shovel to block my
strike.
“Damn, you bitch! You just don’t give up, do you? But this is it. You’re dead today!”
He lifted his shovel high, aiming for my head with deadly intent and hatred.
“Freeze! Police! Drop the weapon!”
At this critical moment, a group of officers suddenly appeared, their guns trained on
Owen.

Owen was stunned for a split second, but his attack did not slow. Instead, his swing became more vicious.
“I’m not getting out of this alive, so I’ll drag you down with me!”
Bang! After a loud noise, Owen’s shovel did not fall, but there was a big hole in his arm. A deafening gunshot echoed as an officer shot Owen in the arm. The next second, he let out a piercing scream before collapsing into the grave.
The officers rushed forward, handcuffing Owen. Their faces froze in shock as they noticed another body in the grave.
I struggled to stand firm and looked at the tomb with trembling eyes. Only then did I notice that Bianca’s eyes were wide open. Her beautiful face was bruised and her elegant appearance now turned horrifying. She was clearly strangled to death.
No wonder I had been tied up in the tomb before. They must have struggled for a

while before it went quiet.
I never could have imagined that my husband, Owen Miller, would turn out to be so cruel and twisted.
As the police led him away, he laughed the entire time, shouting like a madman, “Anyone who betrays me must die!”
Before heading to the station to give my statement, I asked the officers for one last favor to pay respects to my mother–in–law.
With their permission, I buried my mother- in–law myself, giving her a peaceful rest at last.
Not long after, Owen was sentenced to
death for intentional murder. Before his
execution, I went to see him at the
detention center one last time.
He had lost a lot of weight and was a lot less energetic. When he saw me coming in, he was stunned for a moment and then started crying.

“I’m sorry… Lily, I’m sorry for everything. I failed you, Bianca and I failed my mother. I’m the one who deserves to die…”
I looked at him steadily.
“I didn’t come here for an apology. I came because I want to know what happened between you and Bianca Morgan.”
“I have never heard you mention the full story. So, before they execute you, tell me everything about it.”
Owen nodded and began to recount his story with Bianca.
Apparently, Owen and Bianca had grown up as neighbors. The two were childhood sweethearts from the beginning.
