Harvey and Nicolas rushed into the airport, tension radiating from them as they hurried to the counter. Harvey was the first to speak, his voice sharp with urgency.
“Two tickets to Mayfield. The next available flight,” he said, sliding his card across the counter.
The attendant typed swiftly, glancing up at him. “The next flight leaves in forty minutes. You’ll need to hurry.”
Nicolas nodded, his jaw tight. “We‘ Il make it.” He turned to Harvey as the tickets were printed. “You think she‘ really there? What if Bree was wrong?”
“She’s there,” Harvey said, though his tone was laced with doubt. “We’ll find her and figure out what’s going on. We have to.”

The tickets were handed over, and without wasting a second, they made their way through security. Neither spoke much as they waited at the gate, the weight of the unknown pressing heavily on their shoulders. Sabrina’s abrupt
disappearance had left them reeling, and now, with Bree’s words about her possibly never returning echoing in their minds, fear had taken root.
They boarded the plane in silence, both of them bracing themselves for whatever lay ahead.
At that moment, Sabrina stood in front of a tall mirror in her room, holding up a deep. red gown. Its sleek fabric shimmered under the soft light, the color bold and striking. She tilted her head slightly, examining how it looked as she adjusted the straps.
Her mother, seated nearby, smiled approvingly. “That dress is perfect for tonight. It’s elegant, just like you.”

Sabrina sighed lightly and placed the dress. on the bed. “I’ve only met him once, Mom. Are you sure this isn’t too fast?”
Her mother’s smile didn’t waver.
“Jayden is everything we ve hoped for, Sabrina. He’s kind, intelligent, and comes from a good family. And he clearly cares
about you.”
Sabrina hesitated but didn’t argue. Her mother’s words carried weight, and Jayden had been nothing but considerate since their first meeting. Still, she couldn’t help but feel as though everything was happening so quickly.
As she prepared for the engagement banquet, a childhood memory surfaced in her mind. She thought of the summers. spent at her grandmother’s house and the boy who lived next door–a mischievous. kid with messy hair and a teasing grin. Her eyes widened as she connected the dots.

A knock at the door pulled her from her thoughts. Jayden entered the room, holding a small velvet box. He smiled warmly when he saw her, his calm demeanor instantly putting her at ease.
“I thought you might like this,” he said, opening the box to reveal a delicate. necklace. The gemstone at its center was unlike anything Sabrina had seen before, shimmering faintly in the light.
“It’s beautiful,” she said softly, touched. by the gesture.
Jayden stepped behind her, carefully clasping the necklace around her neck. “The stone is rare,” he said, his voice quiet and steady. “When I saw it, I thought of you.”

Sabrina nodded, slipping her hand into the crook of his arm as they headed to the banquet hall.
The banquet was grand, with glittering chandeliers and tables draped in pristine. white cloth. Sabrina moved gracefully through the crowd beside Jayden, who introduced her to each guest with ease. His attentiveness was unwavering, shielding her from persistent questions and ensuring she felt at ease.

Sabrina met their gazes steadily, her tone even when she finally spoke. “Yes, I am.”
The weight of her words settled over them like a blow. Harvey’s face fell, his worst fears confirmed. “You‘ re serious,” he whispered, his voice barely audible.
“You‘ re really going through with this.”
Nicolas looked away, running a hand through his hair. He opened his mouth to speak but found no words, the heartbreak etched clearly on his face.
