Chapter 12
At that moment, the nurse finally caught up. She gasped when she saw Floyd’s arms, but he paid her no mind, his gaze fixed solely on the person lying in the bed.
“Moony… when will she wake up?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
The nurse remained silent and it was Tracie, her eyes red from crying, who answered instead. “Lumina‘ s been unconscious for two days. The doctors say she suffered severe brain trauma and it’s very likely she may never wake up.”
Floyd lost his balance, nearly collapsing to the floor, but Tracie quickly caught him, steadying him with a firm grip.
“Floydie, I know you’re devastated, but you need to take care of yourself, too,” she urged softly.
How could this happen?

He had only intended to teach Lumina a small lesson, to make her stop acting recklessly. Why did she leap from the third floor?
If she really didn’t want to go abroad, she could have just told him. Why take such an
extreme measure?
He couldn’t understand it, no matter how
hard he tried.
The doctors had re–bandaged his wounds, warning him that if he moved recklessly again, his arms would never heal properly.
During that time, Erika had also come to try to comfort him.
Erika had never been fond of Lumina and seeing her son nearly lose his hands over such a woman only fueled her frustration. Watching Floyd, who had always been so strong, fall apart over someone like her made her even angrier.
“Lumina might have wanted to die, but couldn’t she have chosen a place where

no one would be affected? Why drag you into this? Look at you–your once–perfect hands are ruined now!” she said, covering her face as she started to cry.
Floyd had always been respectful and caring toward his mother. In the past, if he saw her in tears, he would have
immediately comforted her. But now, he just frowned deeply.
“Lumina is my fiancée. Saving her is the right thing for me to do. If you‘ re going to say things like that, please leave,” he said firmly.
Erika was furious, but before she could say more, Tracie quickly stepped in to mediate.
“Your mom is just worried about you. Your shouldn’t say things like that and upset her,” Tracie said softly.
“Besides, with Lumina in this condition, the engagement is effectively over. Maybe it’s best if we just call off the wedding for now.”

Erika was about to protest, but Tracie spoke first, curing her of Mrs. Smart. lets wait until Lumina wakes up before making any decisions.”
The phrase, though seemingly considerate, should have eamed Floyd’s approval. Instead, he simply stared coldly at the ceiling, his expression distant, his eyes filled with an overwhelming sadness.
Chapter 12
For the next two days, Floyd sat in his
wheelchair outside the intensive care unit, refusing to leave.
Whenever Floyd closed his eyes now, all he could see was the image of Lumina leaping from the window that day, reckless and desperate. When she heard his voice, she didn’t even bother to glance at him, as if
he didn’t matter at all.
So when did things between him and Lumina change so drastically?
He clearly remembered when she first arrived at the Stuart Family–she used to cling to him and he couldn’t get enough of this soft, sweet little girl.
Having lost her parents, Lumina was always sensitive, quick to cry over the
smallest things. To make her smile, he
would come up with all sorts of ideas to cheer her up.
