Chapter 14
It seemed like it all started then, when he first saw the disappointment in Lumina’s eyes. But he didn’t care. He even thought she was just playing hard to get.
Lumina appeared to fall back into the state she was in when her parents had first passed away–sensitive, suspicious and cautious.
It wasn’t until the trip to Mount Gravenwood that things took a turn.
The idea to go to Mount Gravenwood had come from Tracie. Before then, Floyd hadn’t heard of Tracie having an interest in outdoor activities, but he didn’t reject the idea.
What he hadn’t expected was that Lumina would insist on going too once the news reached her. When he heard that, a secret thrill flickered in his chest.
Lumina hated adventure. Yet, she was

willing to do the thing she hated most for
him.
Floyd allowed her to join. He even thought that after the trip, he could plan their wedding in advance, a surprise for Lumina.
What he didn’t expect was that halfway through the journey, Lumina nearly killed Tracie.
Tracie almost fell off a slope. Her leg was covered in blood, the wound so deep it reached the bone and in the eerie, dense, forest, it looked all the more terrifying.
Lumina stared at Tracie with a look of
sheer hatred, as if she wanted to slice her into a thousand pieces. Floyd was genuinely angry at that.
With so many people in the expedition team, nearly everyone had witnessed Lumina’s violent outburst. If word of this spread, it could cause a huge scandal. It might even affect their wedding.

marriage from the beginning.
So, he knew he had to teach Lumina a lesson. He left her alone in Mount
Gravenwood for a whole month.
Looking back on that decision, Floyd couldn’t help but feel a pang of pain in his chest. It was right after returning from Mount Gravenwood that Lumina completely changed.
The truth was, what Lumina did was too
much!
No matter how much she disliked Tracie being close to him, she couldn‘ t just try to kill someone!
Floyd’s headache began to feel
unbearable. He felt like there was some
detail he had overlooked.
After he calmed down, he called his assistant and asked him to investigate something. He also had the assistant contact the best neurology hospital back home, preparing to send Lumina there.

When Tracie found out, she immediately voiced her concern. “Given the severity of Lumina’s injuries, transferring her now might not be the wisest decision.”
Floyd furrowed his brow.
“Moony has been here for a week with no sign of improvement. I’ve already made. arrangements. If the treatment here doesn’t work, we’ll send her abroad. I’ll personally oversee everything.”
“But-”
Floyd cut Tracie off. “The plan is in motion. A professional team will take over Moony’s
care tomorrow.”
Tracie fell silent, then forced a strained smile. After leaving Floyd‘ s room, she immediately sought out Sean. “It has to be done tonight,” Floyd insisted, his tone unyielding.
Sean was so startled, he nearly toppled out of his chair. “But didn’t you say we should wait until she’s abroad? If we act here,

what if they trace it back to us?”
“We can’t afford to wait any longer. Even if we go abroad now, Floyd will be with her every step of the way, leaving us no chance. to act.” Tracie‘ s frown deepened. “And if we don‘ t leave the country–just transferring her to another hospital…. which doctor wouldn‘ t notice the issues
with Lumina? All the lies we‘ ve told will be exposed!”
