Chapter 28
Rebecca, dressed in her long, flowing wedding gown, gently placed a wedding ring on the painted version of Grant in her artwork. She then instructed the wedding designer to hang the final piece at the venue as soon as possible.
There were twenty–six pieces in total. Although it was far fewer than the number of love letters Grant had written her, it was enough to fill the backdrop of the entire hall.
She named today‘ s painting “The Beginning.” From now on, her paintings wouldn’t be of her fiancé anymore, but of her true husband.
As she thought of this, a smile broke across Rebecca‘ s face.
The servant outside informed her that the wedding procession was on its way and would arrive in about five minutes.

Rebecca replied with a simple “Okay,” then adjusted the hem of her gown in front of the mirror, ready to step out of the room.
Suddenly, she thought she saw a shadow in the mirror.
Before she could even focus, a cloth soaked in some kind of solution was pressed firmly over her nose and mouth.
She didn’t even have time to struggle before she fell into unconsciousness.
It was unclear how much time had passed, but when she finally regained
consciousness, she realized she was in a
car.
Perhaps due to the haste in which she was taken, Lumina hadn’t had the chance to change out of her wedding gown. The train was roughly cut off and the crinoline was removed without care.
When she lifted her head, she was met with Floyd’s gaze–gentle yet laced with a hint of obsession. It was only then that she

realized she had been lying in Floyd’s arms this entire time.
She struggled to sit up, but he forcefully kept her down.
“Moony, weren’t you the one who loved it when I held you before? Why are you trying to run away now?”
Fragments of memories flashed in
Rebecca s mind, images too scattered to form a complete picture.
“Wh… what do you want from me?
“I told you, no matter where you try to take
d you, no matter where y me, Grant will find me!”
Floyd’s eyes flared with visible irritation. “Grant! Grant! Why do you always say his name? He’s not your lover–I am!”
“No! The only person I love is Grant!”
Floyd took a deep breath, struggling to suppress his fury. He replaced his anger with a soft, almost tender expression,
gently stroking Lumina’s hair.

Despite the loving gesture, Lumina felt a chill run down her spine. “It s okay. You‘ ve just lost your memories. Soon, you’ll realize who your real lover is.”
Before she could respond, the car came to
a halt.
It wasn’t until her feet touched the
ground that Lumina realized Floyd had brought her to Mount Gravenwood!
When Rebecca got out of the car, she lost her balance and fell to the ground.
Floyd hurriedly rushed to her side, gently lifting her into his arms, his voice filled with concern as he asked if she was injured.
At that moment, a man dressed in a black robe, his face entirely shrouded in shadow, spoke up, his tone reminding them, “Mr. Stuart, we cannot afford to waste any more time.”
Floyd carried her deeper into Mount Gravenwood.

The path they walked was strangely familiar, as if she had traversed it three
years ago.
No, perhaps it was three months ago.
Rebecca’s Her mind was a chaotic mess and she couldn’t tell which memories were real and which were false.
The man in the black robe stared at her, his lips curling into a chilling smile. “Ms. Shields, your memories will return soon.”
She wasn’t sure how long they had walked, but finally, under a large tree deep within Mount Gravenwood, Floyd stopped.
It was there that Lumina made a startling discovery: beneath the tree lay a body.
Perhaps it would be more accurate to say the woman wasn‘ t simply lying down. She was motionless, breathless, with no rise or fall of her chest–she appeared to be lifeless.
And then, Rebecca recognized her. The
