Chapter 185: Mr. Cassius Has Another Child
One sentence.
It was like a bolt of lightning.
Marcus stood frozen, his eyes bloodshot, as if the next moment, they could start bleeding.
Was all that love, all those six years, just forgotten like that?
“I can’t let go.”
“Gemma, I know you’ve done so much for me. I’m a jerk. I’ve been taking everything you gave, and never did anything in return.”
“Let me make it up to you. This time, let me give you something. Let me treat you right, okay?”
Gemma couldn’t believe it. Was this man seriously losing his mind?
Had he split into a version of himself that actually wanted to be tortured?
Creepy.
As a doctor, she politely suggested.
“I have a friend who’s a psychiatrist. Since we know each other, I can hook you up.”
She hoped he’d get better soon, then go back to Mabel.
Marcus’s face immediately fell.
Gemma didn’t answer.
She turned and started to walk away.
Forget about it. She rolled her eyes.
Like she wanted to own a favor–those things were hard to repay.
“Don’t go!”
He stepped forward, blocking her path again.
His eyes were full of misery.
It looked like if she rejected him again, he might just shatter.
“I’ll see your friend. I’ll go to your psychiatrist. Just tell me who they are, and I’ll find them.”
Gemma wasn’t stupid.
“Just go to the hospital’s psychiatry department.”
She said it without skipping a beat, then turned to leave.
Marcus wasn’t giving up.
“Gemma, do you still do consultations?”
“Maybe I’ll transfer to gynecology soon.”
Marcus, “…”
Doctors didn’t exactly switch specialties, but Gemma? She was a total package.
Wherever she wanted to go, the hospital director would make it happen.
He had originally planned to book an appointment just to talk to her, but that idea was dead before it even started.
“As long as you’re still working at the hospital, that’s all that matters.”
He was honestly relieved she didn’t become a stay–at–home wife.
If she’d stayed home, gotten divorced, and moved cities, he might’ve never found her again.
Gemma heard this and couldn’t help but feel a little bitter.
He had pushed so hard for her to quit her job back then.
And now he was grateful she was still working.
Typical of a jerk to change his mind like that.
She didn’t feel like talking. She brushed past him to leave.
But just a few steps later, Marcus was back again.
“Even if we’re divorced, you said once that my eyes-” he started.
“Mr. Wilson, did I? Do you have proof? I’m forgetful, don’t try to fool me.”
Gemma’s voice was playful.

But Marcus felt as if he’d been slapped.
Back then, when he’d been hanging out with Mabel, Gemma had asked him the same thing.
“Marcus, didn’t you say we’d be together forever? Then why are you bothering with Mabel?”
He had said it just like that.
Made her show proof.
Told her not to make a fuss over everything.
He reached up, gently touching the corner of his eye.
A tear had fallen.
But back then, Gemma had cried so hard she nearly passed out.
He hadn’t understood.
He’d thought she was overreacting, too controlling.
Now, he understood what real heartbreak felt like. The kind that could break a person.
“Gemma, I’m sorry.”
His eyes were filled with tears, everything around him blurred.
He could barely see Gemma’s beautiful face.
He wiped his eyes, hoping it would clear up.
When he opened them again, things were still a bit blurry.
But this time, he saw Gemma standing with someone.
His heart skipped a beat. That feeling of panic surged inside him.
When his eyes had first started acting up, it had all begun with blurry vision.
And then…
He was about to speak when his vision cleared up again.
This time, he saw the man standing next to Gemma.
Cassius.
“Mr. Cassius?”
His voice was full of disbelief.
Cassius was the kind of man who felt untouchable, almost unreachable.
Even though they were the same age, Marcus always felt like he was less than Cassius.
Now, even though they were working with the Raven family, Marcus still didn’t dare face him head–on.
And now, that cold, distant, rumored–to–be–violent Mr. Cassius was standing next to Gemma, smiling at her gently.
He almost thought his eyes were playing tricks on him.
“Mr. Wilson.”
Cassius’s voice broke his thoughts.
That’s when Marcus really saw it.
It was Cassius, standing with Gemma.
“You two…”
“Mr. Wilson, don’t you have a car? Block our way and want a free ride?”
Cassius’s voice was soft, but there was an undeniable power to it.
It was like a sharp blade, cutting through every defense he had, leaving his dignity in the dirt.
Marcus had no choice but to step aside.
As he passed them, he heard Gemma’s soft voice.
“Could you also do one for Candy?”
Candy? Who was that?
Marcus wasn’t foolish enough to think there was anything romantic between Gemma and Cassius.
Cassius was too cold.
This had to be because of Noah, right? Cassius was just doing her a favor because of him.
But…
Hadn’t the kid been named Noah?

Why was he suddenly hearing about a “Candy“?
Did that mean there was another child?
His expression darkened.
He stood there for a long time, deep in thought.
Now that he was working with the Raven family, if things went well, he could push Cassius out for good.
Then he’d be in a better position to bring Gemma back to his side.
So…
After thinking for a bit, Marcus finally called Derick.
“You think Cassius has another kid?”
Derick laughed, almost like he’d heard a joke.
“That Noah kid is from his useless cousin. If Cassius could have kids, he’d have done it himself!”
Marcus paused.
But then he became more certain.
“I’m sure it’s a girl. Her name’s Candy.”
Derick went quiet.
If it was just gossip, that’d be one thing.
But now he knew the kid’s gender and name…
“You might be right. I didn’t really pay attention to how many kids that woman had.”
“Cassius said only one boy, so I didn’t think much of it.”
“After all, who cares about his nephew’s wife, right?”
After a long pause, Derick went silent again.
Having one more child was actually a good thing for them.
Because it meant Cassius had another weak spot.
And the fact that this “Candy” was so well hidden meant Cassius cared a lot more about her than anyone realized.
Noah was probably just a decoy.
“Mr. Wilson, let me double–check this for you. Don’t worry, if this turns out useful, you’ll definitely get your share of the deal.”
