Chapter 210: Marcus, Why Can’t You Keep Your Word?
Gemma was absolutely speechless.
“Fighting for custody!”
Since when?
As far as the knew, Alijah had always leaned toward Mabel.
He barely acknowledged her existence.
Why would she even bother fighting?
Even if the somehow won custody, it’s not like Alijah would actually want to live with her.
Seeing how shocked the was, Cedric suddenly realized something and quickly explained.
“I get what you’re thinking. You probably assume I’d side with Max because we’re buddies, but I’ve been rethinking things.”
“I stand with reason, not connections. All’s still young–being with his mother is what’s best for him.”
Gemma milled it over and asked tentatively.
“Did Marcus send you to test me?”
Cedric, “!??”
Was he not being clear enough?
Why was she still doubting him?
“You can tell him I’m not fighting for custody. And more importantly, decisions about a child’s future should respect the child’s wishes. This isn’t something to be dictated by adults–try considering things from the child’s perspective.
Then, with a polite smile, she added, “I’ve got things to do, bye.”
She turned away and went to chat with Noah.
Cedric,
Where did things go wrong!
How did the conversation take such a weird turn
He scratched his head in frustration
No wonder his grandfather never let him handle things he was indeed useless
Dejected, he slumped away.
But before he got far, he spotted Marcus standing with Mabel.
“Max”
He waved and walked over.
Just in time to hear Mabel complain
“But I’m carrying your child tool How can you favor one over the other?”
Marcut’s voice was laced with impatience. “And how exactly does your kid compare to Gemma’s?”
Cedric froze.
Wait – Mabel was pregnant!!
And it was Max’s!!
Andi
Max didn’t even want it?!
What the hell was going on!
He still remembered when Mabel had just returned to the country–right around the time Marcus found out Gemma was pregnant.
But instead of celebrating or going home to be with her.
Marcus had gone with them to the airport to pick Mabel up.
They partied until three in the morning that night.
And Marcus had personally taken Mabel back to an apartment–where she ended up living for years.
At the time, Cedric had asked him, “If you can’t let her go, why not just divorce!”
Marcus had said Gemma was too fragile, that she probably wouldn’t survive without him.
And the child? That was just something to keep her calm

Keep Your Word
Chapter 210: Marcus, Why Can’t You Keep
Ha words had matched his actions
He spent every night out partying, leaving Gemma alone to deal with all the little, mundane, soul–crushing problems of life.
Cedric had never understood i
So one day, he had asked, “What kind of child would actually matter to you?”
Marcus had replied. “Only one born to the woman I truly love. The one I actually care about.”
For years. Cedric had assumed that woman was Mabel
After all, Marcus had done everything for her–even breaking his last line of restramt, letting her get pregnant.
And yel
“Cedric
Marcus had no interest in continuing the conversation with Mabel, so he turned to Cedric as a convenient distraction
“Perfect timing. Ill introduce you to Mr. Raven.”
Still reeling, Cedric just nodded numbly.
Mabel looked like she wanted to say something, bur Alijah rugged at her sleeve.
“Mabel can I have some dessert?”
He had already eaten after school, but he still felt hungry.
Mabel wanted to brush him off, but then she remembered she still needed him as a shield. Swallowing her irritation, she softened her voice.
“Of course
She took him over to the dessert table, but Alijah wasn’t looking at the sweets.
His eyes were locked onto a little boy sitting nearby,
Noah was perched on a chair, stuffing his cheeks with a cupcake.
His little legs swung back and forth, carefree and content.
Beside him, Gemma was smiling as she handed him more food.
They looked like the picture of mother son harmony.
A warm happy family.
For some reason, Alijah’s chest tightened
Fuming, be stomped his foot and clung to Mabel’s arm
“Mabel, I want that strawberry cake! Can you get it for me?”
He deliberately raised his voice—just loud enough for Gemma to hear.
But she didn’t even glance his way.
His anger Dared
Louder this time.
*I want a cupcake tool”
Mabel was already struggling with her early pregnancy symptoms, and now this little brat was ordering her around like a maid
She wasn’t having it.
“Eat what’s on your place first. Otherwise, you’ll get a stomachache.”
“I won’t Just get it for me!”
When he saw Noah start eating an egg tart, he immediately wanted one 100.
That’s when Mabel finally realized what was going on.
She looked up and spotted Gemma
Ah. So he was competing.
Perfect.
If Alijah really went too far and hurt Gemma.
It wouldn’t matter if he regretted it later–Gemma would never forgive him.
“Alright,” she said with a smile. “Eat whatever you want. Here, you’re free to express your needs.”
But Alijah wasn’t satisfied.
“Twant to s THERE.”
He pointed–right across from Gemma
Mubel didn’t argue. She simply took his hand and led han over.
Chapter 210: Marcus Why Can’t You Keep Your
“Noah Raven, aren’t you afraid of getting sick, eating so much?”
Alijah sneered the moment he sat down.
Noah swallowed his bite, then shot hum an unimpressed look.
“Even bad child won’t get sick. So why would I?”
Alijah’s fare twisted. “Who are you calling a bad child?”
“Who answered my question.”
Alijah rolled up his sleeves. “You wanna get punched!”
Noah stood up, unfazed. “Go ahead. See if I care.”
Mabel quickly pulled Alijah back, then turned to Gemma with an accusing tone.
“Ms. Kelestine, aren’t you going to stop this?”
Gemma leaned on her hand, watching with mild interest. “They’re on opposite sides of the table. It’s not like they can actually fight.”
Mabel’s mind spun, and she immediately put on a tearful voier.
“But there are knives and forks everywhere! What if they get hurt? You’re his mother–how can you not care? Or have you climbed the social ladder so high you don’t even acknowledge your own son anymore?”
Her dramatic accusation made Alijah’s eyes change
He turned to Gemma, filled with resentiment
But Gemma simply held Noals back and told him to stay calm
Then she looked at Alajah and said. “It doesn’t matter what I say or what she says. If you don’t have the ability to think for yourself, you’ll end up nothing more than a pawn for someone else.”
“Never make decisions in the heat of anger.
With that, she took Noah’s hand and walked away.
Alijah stood frozen
His anger drained away.
No matter what Mabel said after that, be didn’t hear a word.
Instead, he felt odily calm.
