Chapter 248: Mr. Cassius, the Cool One, Beats the Ex–Husband’s Gift in a Flash
As she spoke, she reached out to Gemma again.
Yvonne blocked her once more.
“You have no idea what she’s capable of. Don’t make things worse, okay?”
Kaiya was in total shock.
“Yvonne, I’m your friend! How could you side with an outsider?”
Yvonne just stood there, speechless.
She never imagined this lady would be so difficult.
Her IQ and EQ was practically zero.
She was about to lose it.
“If we’re working together, then we’re on the same side.”
She placed a hand on Kaiya’s shoulder, her eyes giving off a strong, silent warning.
Kaiya finally got the hint, scoffing and turning her face away, silent now.
yvonne took a deep breath, trying to calm the fire rising in her chest.
“Ms. Kelestine, I know we’ve never been best friends, but I’ve never done anything to harm you. We’re at least acquaintances, right?”
Gemma just stared at her blankly.
“Cut the crap, you don’t need to insult me like that.”
Yvonne stayed quiet, her patience hanging by a thread.
If this had been the old her, she would have slapped Gemma across the face like Kaiya wanted to.
But now, Keagan was a mess, stumbling around and thinking about running to Susic’s.
She had to figure this out on her own.
Or she’d become the joke of the entire circle.
Losing face, and money too.
She might as well have just disappeared.
After a few deep breaths, she managed to calm herself, keeping her emotions in check.
“I know you’ve always been judgmental about my relationship with Keagan…”
“No, you’re wrong. When it comes to a cheating bastard and his mistress, people don’t usually judge. It’s just us normal people standing up for what’s right,” Gemma said bluntly, unbothered.
Yvonne,
She was boiling with frustration.
But she bit her tongue.
“Dr. Kelestine, how about hearing my terms before you decide how to treat me?”
Gemma glanced at the car across the street, the one she knew all too well.
If it turned around, it’d be here in two or three minutes.
“Fine, two minutes. Let’s hear it.”
She didn’t want to waste time, but maybe there was something useful she could get from Yvonne.
Since she had time to spare, she might as well give it a shot.
Yvonne quickly got to the point.
“I know your true identity now, and I’m guessing you’d love to get back into Doltons and earn their approval, right?”
She said it with confidence.
If she were in Gemma’s shoes, she’d probably bow and grovel by now.
But Gemma just looked at her, waiting for her to continue.
I’m sure you realized who the real favorite is in Doltons after our last meeting.”
Honestly, whether you get back into Doltons or how they treat you depends on Kaiya,” she continued.
“If you’re willing to introduce the Chavez to us, I can guarantee you’ll be Doltons‘ little princess!”
Gemma raised an eyebrow. “Well, that’s an enticing offer.”

Yvonne smiled, sure her pitch was working. The surprised look on Gemma’s face felt just right.
‘Dr. Kelestine, soon enough you’ll be the top socialite in S City, with any man you want at your feet.”
Gemma raised an eyebrow, her tone skeptical.
“So, if I get the Chavezs to work with Doltons–work with you–I’ll be Doltons‘ favorite?”
Yvonne nodded seriously.
“Exactly. It’s easy for you. With your medical skills, saving the Chavez kid will be a walk in the park. They’ll be forever grateful.”
Gemma glanced back and saw the familiar car slowly pulling up.
She smirked, a low laugh escaping her lips as she asked with mock concern.
“Yvonne, haven’t you had a check–up lately? You really should get a brain scan. Hydrocephalus is serious, and I’m afraid it might be too late for you.”
With that, she turned and strutted into the car.
The car took off, leaving Yvonne and Kaiya in a cloud of dust.
Yvonne knew Gemma’s ability. She rubbed her forehead
“Could I really be that sick?”
“What are you talking about?” Kaiya yelled, panic in her voice. She turned to Yvonne. “Why didn’t you stop her?”
Yvonne snapped back to reality.
She now realized she’d been played by Gemma.
Hydrocephalus?
Please, that was just Gemma mocking her, calling her a fool for trying to make deals.
She was fuming.
She glared in the direction the car had gone.
“Fine, if she doesn’t want to play nice, then we’ll make her regret it.”
Kaiya was just as pissed, her face dark with anger.
“I’m going to tell Uncle Ash. She’ll never get back into Doltons!”
Yvonne gave her a thumbs–up.
“You are the reall Dolton’s princess here.”
She hesitated for a second.
Then, she asked carefully.
“By the way, about that resort project you said your Uncle Ash might invest in…”
“I’ll make sure the funding’s in place before the end of the day.”
Kaiya smiled, a glint in her eye. “But the shares you promised me better not be less
“You can count on me.”
Yvonne said smoothly, buttering her up. “And don’t forget, you’re Doltons‘ favorite. Even if I wanted to outsmart you, I’d have to be lucky enough to actually get my hands on your stuff.”
Kaiya thought about the perks she’d gotten from Doltons over the years, a sense of superiority creeping in.
It felt like she was already running the show in S City.
“Alright, I’ll introduce you to another project at Uncle Ash’s place, just because you’re so honest.”
Gemma sat back in the car, checking the rearview mirror.
Seeing the two women fuming, her mood lifted.
Cassius, dressed in casual clothes for a lab visit, had come to pick her up.
He didn’t have time to change–he was in a rush.
Earlier, in the car, he saw the gesture Gemma made, and it was enough to signal Brooke to slow down.
“Keagan threatened to kill himself if I sent Yvonne away. As a trade–off, he gave up everything at Beasleys.”
Gemma nodded, understanding now.
No wonder Cassius had handled things the way he did, and Yvonne had still managed to show up.
It was all because of Keagan.
Even though Cassius didn’t care much for family, Keagan was someone he had seen grow up.
He just couldn’t bring himself to completely cut him off.

“Got it,” she said, not wanting to talk about the trashy couple.
She shifted the conversation. “About that lab you mentioned…”
“We’re on our way there now.”
Cassius replied, relaxing a little.
“The lab’s been set up, and the equipment is already in place. Once you get there, you can check everything out yourself.”
Gemma stayed calm.
“Equipment’s all ready?”
She had half expected to beg her colleagues for equipment.
But Cassius had already solved that problem for her.
“The right tools make the job easier. Using someone else’s equipment could lead to stolen data–totally not worth it.”
