Chapter 259: Mr. Cassius and His Unintentional Charm
That alarm sound…
Gemma recognized it instantly.
It was the same blaring noise from the last hacking incident.
But after Cassius upgraded the hospital’s systems, the alarms had gone quiet.
She trusted his skills completely.
If he said the firewall was unbreakable, she’d bet her life on it.
So why was it screaming now?
Maybe a glitch?
Or a drill?
But then she saw the director’s face go pale.
“Director… hackers?”
“Dr. Kelestine,” the director said tightly.
Please contact Mr. Cassius. Now,”
Gemma pulled out her phone–no signal.
Just emergency calls.
Her stomach dropped.
“They’ve cut all connections?”
Luckily, the director had a walkie–talkie.
Within minutes, they confirmed the worst:
It was the hacking incident.
The hackers were targeting Gemma’s makeshift OR
Every piece of equipment there–precision tools, monitors, everything ran on networked systems.
If the hackers took control, surgeries would collapse.
Patients could die on the table.
Gemma felt the blood drain from her face,
Meanwhile, in Kaiya’s room…
Ashton hunched over a laptop, fingers flying across the keyboard.
Lines of code blurred on the screen.
Kaiya watched for a moment before giving up.
She thought he was working, so she didn’t interrupt.
She turned to Yvonne instead.
Yvonne sighed.
“Everything was fine before Gemma showed up. Keagan and I were happy. Now? He’s a mess. The Beasleys won’t even return my calls.”
Kaiya patted her hand.
“He’s still the Beasley heir. He’ll eventually get the Beasley empire.”
Marry him quick, have a baby.
Grandparents melt for grandkids.”
Yvonne stared out the window.
Easy for Kaiya to say-
Keagan wouldn’t even sleep in the same house anymore.

He even wanted a break–up!
Fuck the break–up! She hadn’t done anything wrong!
When Yvonne stayed silent, Kaiya smoothly shifted gears.
“Speaking of kids… do you think the Chavez baby’ll make it?

Chapter 259: Mr. Cassius and His Unintentional Charm
I looked it up–this disease? Survival rates are practically zero.”
There were some things that she couldn’t say and could only let Yvonne say them to Ashton.
Yvonne smirked, catching the hint.
“Oh, this is all about Gemma’s ego.
That girl wants to be famous.
If the surgery fails? Chavez sues, she gets fired.
If they let it slide? She becomes a medical superstar overnight. Either way, she wins.”
Kaiya gasped, hand flying to her mouth.
“Really? But… that’s someone’s life!
How could she gamble like that?”
Yvonne scoffed.
“People are desperate for fame.
Gemma’s a country girl obsessed with money.
Once she’s viral? She’ll quit medicine, sell snake oil online, maybe even become an influencer.
Cute face, tragic backstory–perfect package.”
Kaiya widened her eyes, glancing at Ashton.
“Uncle Ash, we have to stop her!
This isn’t a game! It’s an innocent kid’s life.”
Ashton didn’t look up from his screen.
“Relax. The surgery won’t happen.”
Without his say–so, the hospital’s systems were locked down.
In other words.
If he’s in a good mood, this was a good hospital.
One bad mood from him, and this place would crumble into a lawsuit hellhole.
Kaiya and Yvonne exchanged glances.
They both saw disbelief in each other’s eyes.
After all, Gemma’s position in the hospital was quite high now, and it was still a bit difficult for them to directly set her up
Since when did Ashton have this much power?
“Uncle Ash…”
Kaiya whispered.
“You didn’t, like, kidnap her, right?”
Ashton chuckled.
“What’s on your little head?”
“Illegal, remember?”
“My brother’s a lawyer. I’m not stupid.”
Kaiya pouted.
Among her three uncles, Ashton was the easiest to manipulate.
He’s her trump card.
But now it seemed that Ashton was emotionally unstable, but he’s not a fool either.
“That’s good.”
“I just… I took her place. I don’t want her hurt, or I’d never forgive myself.”
yonne jumped in.
“Gemma’s a grown woman. She knows the risks.”
“I hope she comes to her senses,” Kaiya sighed.
“Returns to the family.”
Ashton stayed silent, eyes glued to his code.
There were some fluctuations in the codes.
He immediately began to repair.

Chapter 239: Mr. Cassius and His Unintentional Charm
Back in the OR, Gemma stared at the dead monitors, on the verge of losing it.
Then her phone rang-
Cassius.
“Wait, I have no signal-”
His voice rumbled through the receiver, smooth as velvet.
“Our line’s… special. Call me anytime, anywhere.”
She knew Cassius was always this domineering.
She knew he probably thought nothing of saying something like that.
And yet —
Her heart pounded like a drum.
Her cheeks warmed.
“Wow, that’s impressive.” Her voice shook slightly. “I thought only emergency calls could go through.”
Cassius made a low, raspy sound–almost a chuckle, almost a hum–brushing against her car like a rough caress.
“That too.”
Gemma, “…”
Then Cassius spoke again.
“Now start prepping. No one’s stopping your surgery.”
“The machines are dead, Cassius-
Beep.
Every screen flickered to life.
