Chapter 262: Mr. Dolton, You’re a Joke–You Know That, Right?
Tm fine.”
Tears of joy welled up in Gemma’s eyes.
She hadn’t expected everything to go this smoothly.
The patient held on through the entire surgery.
The assisting staff gave it their all–no one slipped up.
All in all.
A perfect operation.
She bowed deeply.
Thank you, everyone.”
The team froze for a second, then straightened up and bowed back.
A silent moment of gratitude.
The doors to the operating room swung open.
Juelz, supporting Mr. Chavez, rushed forward. “Dr. Kelestine-*
His voice shook. Sweat glistened on his forehead.
He looked like he’d been on edge for hours.
Gemma pulled off her mask.
The long surgery had left red marks on her cheeks, but her smile was warm, steady—
The kind that put people at ease.
“We made it!”
Three simple words. And just like that, the tension outside snapped.
People started talking over each other, emotions spilling out in a jumble of words.
Except for Mr. Chavez. A man who had weathered countless storms, he managed to keep his voice steady despite the tidal wave of emotions raging
inside him.
“Dr. Kelestine, thank you.”
“You are savior to the Chavezes. Whatever you need, whatever you want, you have our full support.”
Gemma quickly shook her head.
“I was just doing my job. No need to feel so indebted.”
And honestly, a lot of the credit goes to this kid.”
“When the anesthesia wears off, he’ll wake up. But for now, he still needs professional care. Visiting time is limited, so please be patient.”
“Got it. We got it.” Juelz wiped his eyes and watched as the child was wheeled to the ICU.
He pressed his face against the glass, staring intently as the medical team changed the kid’s clothes.
Mr. Chavez, just as anxious, nudged his son aside to get a better look himself.
Their antics made Gemma laugh. She gave the nurse a few instructions before stepping outside.
She turned a corner–then stopped.
Lifting her gaze, she saw Cassius standing in the soft glow of the hallway lights, holding a bouquet of sunflowers.
Noticing her pause, he took the initiative and walked toward her.
*Congratulations.”
He held out the flowers.
Gemma took them, only then realizing that hidden among the sunflowers were eleven roses.
“They’re beautiful.”
She smiled, and suddenly, the exhaustion from hours of surgery felt a little lighter.
“What brings you here?”
Cassius, eyes lowered, studied her gorgeous smile and whispered.
“First, to celebrate. Second, to check the results–and get some payback for you.”

Gemma blinked.
The first part was obvious.
But the second?
Cassius, reading her confusion, clapped his hands.
Robin appeared, leading a small group of officers.
“Thanks to the vigilant Ms. Kelestine, we’ve gathered enough evidence. By law, Ashton is now officially under arrest.”
“But since Ms. Kelestine was the one who reported him, if Ms. Kelestine wants to see him, we can arrange that.”
Gemma was caught off guard.
“Officer Robin, that was fast!”
One surgery, and the whole case was wrapped up?
Robin: “…” Compliments were nice, but “fast” wasn’t exactly what he was going for.
Gemma chuckled. “Guess I should pay my dear uncle a visit. Wouldn’t want to keep him waiting.”
Robin gave her a thumbs–up.
“She looks all sweet and innocent, but deep down…”
Cassius shot him a glare.
Robin immediately shut up.
He had been about to say that Dr. Kelestine was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
But, damn, did Cassius have to be this protective?
Ashton set his headphones down, rubbing his temples. He glanced at the screen again.
Twenty minutes had passed.
Where was Gemma?
Had she changed her mind?
Frowning, he switched the surveillance feed.
The screen flickered.
Then, there she was. Gemma, walking toward him–with Cassius at her side.
His lips curled into a smirk.
Smart girl. Brought backup,
But even at its peak, the Raven family wouldn’t dare go against the Doltons.
Did she really think Cassius could protect her?
She was in for a rude awakening.
Ashton let out a cold laugh, pushed his laptop aside, and stood up.
A knock on the door.
“Come in.”
Gemma walked in with her entourage, practically filling the room.
Ashton’s expression darkened. “Brought a whole crowd to watch your downfall? Should I be impressed by your intelligence or disappointed by your stupidity?”
Gemma casually waved her phone, showing him the message he’d sent.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to make a trade? How was I supposed to know if you were serious or just messing with me?”
Her lips curled into a mocking smile.
“But now I get it. With your level of skill, even if you tried running a scam, you’d end up getting scammed yourself. I really had nothing to worry
about.”
“So, no–they’re not here to watch me. They’re here to watch you make a fool of yourself.”
Ashton had already been simmering in frustration. Now, with Gemma’s blatant defiance, his anger boiled over.
“Gemma, don’t overestimate your worth!” he snarled.
“Give me the histamine copper, and I’ll make sure the hospital returns to normal. If not, you’ll be responsible for every life lost!”
“That’s on you!”
Even with Cassius backing her, there was no way she’d come out of this unscathed.

For a brief moment, the room fell silent.
Then… Gemma snorted.
“People in the hospital are dying because of me? Mr. Dolton, do you even hear yourself?”
The way she addressed him made his rage spike.
“Gemma, I gave you a chance, but you threw it away. Fine. No more games. Let’s send the ICU patients to meet their maker!”
He slammed the enter key on his laptop.
“Remember, Gemma–this is on you!”
Everyone turned to look at him. Like he was a complete idiot.
After all this time…
Had he not stepped outside to check what was actually happening?
How was he still spewing nonsense like this?
“Too late to be scared now.”
Ashton, mistaking their stunned silence for fear, sneered.
“Unless Kelestine gets on her knees and hands over the histamine copper-”
“Pfft-”
Someone snickered.,
“Sorry, sorry, couldn’t hold it in. Didn’t mean to ruin the show.”
“But this is just too funny.”
The guy tried to compose himself but failed miserably.
“Ahem, okay, okay, I’ll stop. Mr. Dolton, please–continue.”
