Chapter 302: Uncle Ashton Regrets, But Gemma Won’t Forgive
She didn’t know what was wrong with her.
Not a single tear came.
Every family said she was heartless.”
Some friends who knew the truth even called her cruel.
But she kept it all to herself. Quiet. Alone.
She’d planned to spend the rest of her life mourning her husband.
But then Ashton made a move against his late husband’s family.
That’s when she realized–there was no way to hide.
And if there’s no way out, she might as well charge in headfirst. Stir the pot. Flip the whole Dolton family upside down.
So her original plan was simple: Make Ashton fall hopelessly in love with her. Get him to bring her back into the Doltons, and then burn it all down from the inside.
Total chaos–that was the goal.
She even deliberately showed up around Abigail more than once, trying to provoke a response.
But Abigail was too busy cementing her own position.
She didn’t even bother to look into her.
After months of effort with no results, she went quiet, waiting for her chance.
Then it came.
She got pregnant.
That was the moment she’d been waiting for.
But fate loves a twisted joke.
The baby got sick.
She might not have had real feelings for Ashton anymore, but that child? That was her heart.
How could she let go?
That’s how everything that followed came to be.
Once she arrived in N.L. City, she’d already mapped it all out.
Using the chaos from the whole Gemma situation, she’d wedge her way into the Doltons.
Achieve everything she set out to do.
But then…
Ashton flipped the script.
Out of nowhere, the man who used to treat her like she was disposable, suddenly wanted to cut ties with the Doltons–Just to be with her.
What a joke.
When she’d loved him deeply, he crushed her.
Now that she’s full of hatred, he clings to her like she’s the only light in his world.
Gemma noticed the way her eyes shimmered red, the sadness in her face. She raised a brow.
“You don’t seem like the type to get caught up in feelings. You really bought that drunk nonsense?”
Christine blinked, snapped out of her thoughts. She wiped away a tear with a faint smile.
“Believe it? Nah. Just hit me in a weird way, that’s all.”
She paused, then said calmly, “Dr. Kelestine, I let him stay today for a reason.
I’m going back to the Doltons. Not in secret–openly, publicly.”
“There are things that need to be settled on their turf.”
Gemma gave a thumbs–up.
“I don’t know if you mean all that, but I respect the hell outta you for saying it.”
Christine looked over,
Her eyes now clear, sharp with resolve.
Dr. Kelestine, you went against everyone and saved my child. You didn’t even come after me for the lies I told you.”

“Us women–We’ve got to have each other’s backs. From now on, I’m your blade.”
“You stay on the high ground–Let me deal with the scum. Just be careful… Don’t let their blood get on you.”
Gemma’s eyes lit with admiration.
She didn’t know exactly what Christine had been through, But in her, she saw a reflection of the woman she once was–Broken, desperate… yet still standing.
Even when you know it’s damn near impossible, you still try.
Because trying means there’s a chance.
With that thought, Gemma turned back to Ashton. She pulled an orange pill case from her coat pocket.
“Alright, let’s sober this guy up. No point wasting more time.”
Christine stood with the baby in her arms.
“I’ll wait outside.”
Gemma moved fast. A few pills down Ashton’s throat, and signs of clarity started to return.
She was about to leave when a voice mumbled behind her.
‘Charlic…
She froze.
Ashton was sitting up now, staring at her back.
She looked just like Charlie.
“You’re back?”
Gemma said nothing.
He was only half–awake, rambling in a drunken daze.
“I know you hate me. But after what happened with Christine… I had no choice but to let you go.”
Gemma’s fists clenched.
Should’ve skipped the pills and just fed him poison.
“I never thought you’d argue with Mom…”
Gemma’s brows pulled together, a flicker of surprise in her eyes.
“I tried to stop you from leaving. But you shook me off anyway.”
“If I’d known that was the last time I’d ever see you.., I never would’ve let go.”
She waited.
Nothing more came.
She turned around. Ashton was dozing off again.
Without hesitation, she jabbed in a silver needle.
Ashton’s eyes flew open.
Still groggy, he could see her face clearly now.
He tensed up.
“Charlie.. I only found out later–It was Mom who set everything up with Jaxton.”
LL‘
Suddenly, a baby’s cry echoed from outside.
Ashton flinched.
Fully awake now.
He glanced around the room, taking in the hospital decor. Then looked at Gemma, who stood in front of him.
Why are you here?”
Gemma crossed her arms. “This is my patient ward. Pretty sure I should be the one asking you that.”
Ashton rubbed his aching forehead.
“Hey, I’m still your uncle. Show some respect when you talk to me.”
Gemma snorted. “Funny. You sure had no problem calling yourself my uncle. What, your conscience doesn’t even flinch?”
She scoffed
“Oh, right. Forgot it. You don’t have a conscience.”
She hadn’t caught the full story earlier, but it wasn’t hard to guess. When her mom needed help most, this so called uncle? He was nowhere to be

A man that cruel to his own sister-
Didn’t deserve the title of “uncle,”
Ashton’s temples throbbert. “You you’re really…”
He wanted to call her disrespectful, ungrateful
But then remembered why he was even in that hospital room. Bitterness rose in his chest.
Maybe the one with no manners… wasn’t her.
He used to think accepting her into the Dolton fapily was a gift.
Now, thinking about what Charlotte had gone through, about Christine’s current mess, he wasn’t so sure anymore,
“…Forget it. I’m not gonna argue with a kid. Where’s your aunt and cousin?”
Gemma rolled her eyes.
“You blind and dumb now? They’re right in front of you.”
Just then, the door opened.
Christine walked in, baby in arms.
Dr. Kelestine, thank you for sobering him up.”
Ashton stared blankly,
You helped me sober up?”
Gemma shot back, “What do you think? I came all the way here just to watch you make a fool of yourself drunk?”
Ashton muttered, “Can’t you just-
She waved him off. “Get moving. This is a hospital, not a hotel,”
Christine walked in just as Gemma was heading out. Watching her leave, she couldn’t help but sigh.
“You’re always complaining about her, but the second she saw you drunk, she was worried sick. Maybe she’s not as heartless as you think.”
Ashton felt a pang in his chest.
“Christine,” he said quietly, “do you really think sending her back to Doltons is the right call?”
Christine handed him the baby. “That depends. Are you bringing her back to give her peace, or to put her through more hell?”
