Chapter 309: Mr. Cassius to the Rescue–I’ll Always Have Your Back
Madeline was so furious she had to take a heart pill to keep from passing out.
Abigail and Kaiya panicked, hovering over her like the picture of filial devotion-
One supporting her, the other carefully offering water and medicine.
Meanwhile, everyone else just stood there awkwardly, completely unnecessary.
Abigail sniffled dramatically.
“Ash, that was way out of line! You know Mom’s health isn’t great, and yet you still stabbed her in the heart like this?”
Kaiya jumped in, her voice full of urgency.
“Uncle Ashton, you’re always the most considerate one. Just apologize to Grandmal Say you were misled. She’s your mother. Don’t make her suffer any more than she already has!”
With just a few words, the mother–daughter duo painted Ashton as an ungrateful son-
And, conveniently, shifted the family’s anger away from Gemma and onto him and Christine..
After all, Gemma was pretty much out of the picture now.
She couldn’t return to the Doltons, which meant she wasn’t a threat.
Ashton, though?
Not only did he want to bring his child back, but he also intended to put his wife’s name in the Dolton family records.
That was something Madeline would never allow,
Because if Ashton was deemed unfilial.
Then the rest of the elders wouldn’t accept Christine either.
And that meant she still had a shot at winning.
Gemma let out a cold laugh..
“So this is what Madeline’s daughters have been taught to blame others when things don’t go their way? Real impressive.”
Abigail, bound by her role as the elder, could only force a wounded expression. “Gemma, how could you say something so hurtful?”
Kaiya, though, had the perfect excuse to lash out–defending her mother.
“Gemma, if it weren’t for Grandma’s guilt and my mom constantly persuading her, you wouldn’t even be standing here right now!”
“And yet, after all that, you dare act so ungrateful?”
“I never wanted to hurt you, but you clearly don’t know your place!”
“Security Seize her!”
At her command, the security team–who had been waiting outside–stormed in, surrounding Gemma in a tight formation.
Everyone assumed she’d drumble, drop to her knees, and beg for mercy.
But when they turned to look at her, all they saw was… indifference.
She even had the nerve to glance at them with outright disdain.
The room fell silent.
Ashton let out a long sigh.
“Mom, all you’re doing is hurting Charlie.”
“Have you really never considered that one day, she might come back?
“And if she does… how do you think she’d feel seeing her daughter treated like this?”
Madeline, having recovered a little, only grew colder at his words.
“If Charlie knew her daughter was so defiant–so willing to challenge the Doltons–she’d be heartbroken.”
“Charlie was my child. I knew her better than anyone.”
And
“And since she’s not here, I’ll give this girl the lesson she clearly needs.”
She raised a hand, signaling the guards to act.
They tightened their circle, stepping in-
Then-
BANG!
A car rammed straight through the villa’s gates.

The impact sent the guards reeling back in hesitation.
Everyone turned toward the source of the commotion–except Gemma.
She remained completely unbothered.
In fact, she even smiled.
And then-
Three men stepped out of the vehicle.
Cassius. Noah. Shawn.
They strode forward in a perfect line, radiating pure menace.
Shawn was the first to break the silence, his voice laced with amusement.
“Well, well. This is new.
Someone actually thought they could lay hands on our Gem?”
Before anyone could react, a sudden, sharp cry of pain echoed through the room.
No one had even seen Shawn move.
But just like that, the security formation had shattered.
By the time people processed what had happened, he was already by Gemma’s side.
“You good, Gem?” he asked casually.
She checked the time on her watch.
“Took you guys long enough. You missed the best part.”
She had been on fire today.
A performance for the history books.
Shawn snapped his fingers.
“Guess I’ll have to make it up to you by walking Candy for a month.”
Gemma rolled her eyes.
“That’s not a punishment–that’s a reward!”
Candy was ridiculously cute.
Everyone wanted to steal her.
Shawn was the only one who actually tried–but he always got caught and had to return her.
1-
The estate had even upgraded its security system just to keep him away.
Now, he could only stare at the dog from a distance, filled with longing.
Abigail, meanwhile, pointed an accusing finger at them.
“This is breaking and entering! You’re trespassing!”
Shawn lazily rubbed his ear, like he hadn’t quite heard her right.
‘Breaking and entering?
Now that’s a bit dramatic.”
Abigail’s expression darkened.
“Mr. Smith, I know who you are. You come from an elite family. Don’t throw your future away for certain people.
The Doltons and the Smiths have business ties. You wouldn’t want to put your family in a difficult position, would you?”
Shawn burst out laughing.
“Lady, nobody told you? I haven’t been part of the Smith family for years.

If you wanna pick a fight with them over me- he clapped his hands together, mockingly excited, “-please, go ahead! I’ll even get you a trophy for
the effort.
Abigail’s face stiffened.
Kaiya narrowed her eyes.
“Mr. Smith, what you just did was a crime. I’ve already called the police. You really want to get arrested?
If you leave now, I’ll pretend this never happened.”
Jonathan stepped forward, shaking his head at Shawn.
I remember when you were just a kid. Quiet, well–mannered. Never imagined you’d grow up to be such a troublemaker.”
Shawn ignored him entirely and turned to Gemma instead.

Honestly, I gotta hand it to you. How do you put up with all this barking and not get annoyed?”
Gemma smacked his arm.
“Don’t insult dogs.”
“Oh, right. My bad.”
His words had barely left his lips when the glint in his eyes turned razor–sharp,
The guards didn’t even have time to react.
One by one, they collapsed to the ground.
Scattered. Motionless.
Ridiculous.
The Doltons, “……”
Noah dashed over to Gemma’s side, puffing out his chest. “Gemma, don’t worry! I’ll protect you!
I’ll take care of these bad guys for you!”
Watching this unfold, Alijah–who had been standing beside Madeline–boiled with rage. His eyes burned red.
They had been so close.
His great–grandmother had sent all these guards, and they were this close to getting his mom back.
But Noah had ruined everything.
That bastard–he was just here to steal his mom!
He clenched his fists and shouted, “Who needs your protection?! She’s my mom! Get lost and stay away from her!”
Noah gave him a pitying look, full of mockery.
“Oh? Your mom, huh? Funny how when all those people were surrounding her, you didn’t do a damn thing.
What’s wrong? Are you a turtle? Hiding in your shell when the crowd’s too big, but acting all tough once it’s safe?”
