Chapter 310: Crushing You Is Like Playing on Easy Mode
“Are you sure?”
Alijah nodded without hesitation.
“Mom, come stand by me. I’ll protect you. I already messaged Dad–he’s coming to get us soon.”
Jonathan and Madeline’s expressions darkened.
“You did what?”
Madeline was fuming. She’d been expecting Margaret to come, but now that she thought about it…
Margaret had said she was on her way a while ago. Why wasn’t she here yet?
Did something happen?
A flicker of unease crept into her heart.
Alijah, however, was completely sure of himself.
“Of course, my mom belongs with my dad.”
“But don’t worry, Great–Grandmother,” he said seriously, “Dad won’t let you down. Once he’s here, he’ll make sure Mom apologizes to you, so please don’t be mad just yet.”
Gemma, who had been starting to feel that something was off, was totally speechless.
Yeah, sometimes, trying to understand a kid’s mind with adult logic just didn’t work.
“I’m not apologizing to anyone. No matter who shows up, it won’t change a thing. If that’s what you’re hoping for, you can stop right now.”
Alijah pouted. “Mom, you’re even more stubborn than a kid.”
Noah stomped forward, hands on his hips.
“Ali, your mouth is so toxic, I bet if you licked your lips, you’d poison yourself.”
“I hate you!”
Alijah snapped. “She’s my mom–why do you care?!”
Noah shot back, “Gemma did nothing wrong! No one’s forcing her to apologize! If anything, you should be the one saying sorry!
Hmph! If you won’t apologize, I’ll beat an apology out of you!”
He glared at the room full of Doltons, suddenly realizing he was very, very outnumbered. But whatever. He kept his stance strong.
“Even if I can’t win, I still have Uncle Shawn! Even if they beat him to death, I won’t let Gemma apologize!”
Shawn, “…” Bro, what did I do to deserve this?
Noah wasn’t done.
He immediately ran over and yanked Cassius to Gemma’s side for backup.
“Uncle Cassi Say something! Show these jerks how scary you are!”
Cassius,”
Gemma, “…” Great. Now Mr. Cassius has officially lost half his intimidation factor.
But to her surprise, Cassius actually spoke.
“I don’t think Gemima did anything wrong,” he said calmly. “So I’m standing by her.”
Noah beamed, clapping excitedly before turning to Alijah with a smug grin.
“See that? We all support Gemmal
Madeline stood up, frowning at Cassius.
“They call you ‘Mr. Cassius‘ because you’re decisive, fair, and ruthless. That’s why people respect you.
And now, you’re throwing all that away?
Aren’t you afraid of ruining your reputation?”
Cassius‘ expression remained unreadable, his voice steady.
“First of all, I’m not ruthless.
Second, I’m only fair to those who deserve it.
And third… No matter what side Gemma stands on, my stance stays the same.”
In other words-
He was protecting her, no matter what.
And honestly, he could’ve just rung the doorbell earlier.
The butler wouldn’t have dared stop him.
But instead, he’d kicked the damn door down.

That alone made his position crystal clear:
Anyone who went against him–or hurt Gemma–would end up just like the twisted, mangled metal door lying on the floor.
The room fell into dead silence.
Until, finally-
Ashton stepped forward.
“Mom, Dad, you see what’s happened. Because of your poor decisions, things are spiraling out of control.
I think it’s best if you both take a step back for now. Let me handle the rest.”
Jonathan stared at him, stunned.
“Ashton… are you trying to take over?”
Ashton gave a small smile.
“Dad, we’re family. I’m just handling family business.
If I really wanted to take over, I’d go for the Doltons‘ assets. Why would I bother with all this nonsense?”
Christine chimed in.
“Ashton’s just worried about you. Look, Mom almost passed out earlier.
And Dad, you’re getting older.”
It’s time for younger people to step in and take care of things.”
Shawn, ever the instigator, smirked.
“Well, well, if the Doltons are switching leaders, I guess I’ll have to reassess my stance. Looks like all past grievances will have to be put on hold.”
The moment he said that, a collective sigh of relief swept through the Doltons.
