Chapter 34: Let Gemma Go Home with Him
Mabel frowned.
“Mr. Cedric, you can’t possibly believe this, right?”
“I’m from a medical background too. Diagnosing a foreign object in the blood vessels requires a CT scan. She can just spot it with her eyes?”
Cedric frowned.
That made sense.
If there had really been a problem with the chest X–ray, those doctors would’ve called him by now, not waited until this point
“Dr. Kelestine”
Cedric clenched his fists.
If it weren’t for Mr. Cassius being here, and if it weren’t for Marcus’s sake, he wouldn’t even bother talking to Gemma. “Apologize to my grandfather, and we’ll forget about today.”
Otherwise, if Benedict decided to press charges, even Marcus wouldn’t be able to save her!
Gemma, completely unaware of the danger, continued to plead.
“Mr. Cedric, you really need to get your grandfather checked out right away. We can’t waste any more time.”
Benedict was a medical authority; he knew his own body well.
“Young lady, it’s fine to want fame, but you can’t just take shortcuts.”
His tone was harsh.
That was basically a death sentence to Gemma’s medical ethics.
“Mr. Cedric, your health is everything! You can’t just ignore it. If you do, it’s a loss for the entire medical field!” Mabel’s face darkened. “Dr. Kelestine, you’re scaring others! I know you want to make a name for yourself, but joke around with Mr. Cedric’s health!”

Her words caused an uproar. The people in the room began whispering among themselves. If Cassius hadn’t been here, they would’ve stormed over and dragged Gemma away.
Meanwhile, the live stream was full of insults. Even Brian got dragged into the mess.
The “sweetest couple” online had turned into a joke, with fans mocking them. Some even left comments demanding that their medical licenses be revoked. “Pfft, Gemma would never liel” Noah crossed his arms and glared at the critics. Then, he grabbed Gemma’s hand.
“Gemma, they’re not listening to you. Let’s just ignore them and let them cry!”
Seeing how things were going, Gemma wasn’t sure she could convince Mr. Cedric, but she still tried to push.
“Mr. Gray, you really-
“Enough!” Marcus’shouted.
Cedric had been giving him signals earlier, signaling that he was holding back for his sake.
Now, thanks to Gemma, he had lost face in front of everyone.
“You don’t know who Mr. Benedict Gray is? Does he need you to remind his illness? This isn’t about becoming famous, it’s about showing off!”
Alijah looked disappointed too.
His disappointment with Gemma had only grown.
“Such a shame.”

He pressed his lips together and refused to look at her.
Marcus went on, “I don’t care what your intentions are. Now, get out. Stop embarrassing yourself!”
Mabel jumped in “Dr. Kelestine, your actions could cost your hospital. You can’t risk everything for fame and have your hospital pay the price!”
Her words only stirred up the crowd even more.
“Get out!”
“Revoke her medical license!”
“Worst doctor evert”
Noah was fuming. His small body stepped in front of Gemma. “You’re not allowed to talk about Gemma!”
Seeing the tension, Brian quickly stepped up, protecting both Gemma and Noah. He shot a warning glance at Marcus.
“Mr. Wilson, this has nothing to do with you. Why are you pushing this?”
Marcus’s face darkened. “Then it has nothing to do with you either. Get out of the way!”
Benedict’s face was grim, but given his status, he didn’t snap.
“Girl, on Mr. Cassius’s account, I won’t make things hard for you. But… you should leave. Just remember. ahh…”
Before he could finish, a sharp pain hit his chest. He instinctively pressed his hand over his heart.
At that moment, his phone rang.
Due to the sudden pain, he accidentally answered the call on speaker.
“Mr. Gray, Mr. Gray, we finally got in touch! We’ve reviewed your chest X–ray and think there might be a foreign object in your blood vessels. You need to come to the hospital immediately.”
The microphone on the judges‘ desk picked up the voice.
The entire room heard it loud and clear.
The place went completely silent.
Benedict felt the pain intensify in his chest, his breath growing heavier and bloodied. “Grandpa!”
Cedric turned around in panic, only to see Benedict’s face turn pale as he pressed his chest.
“Call an ambulance! Now!”
The scene erupted into chaos.
“Mr. Gray!”
Gemma threw aside any personal grievances and rushed to help him.
The ambulance arrived quickly, and everyone scrambled to get Mr. Gray into it.
It wasn’t until the commotion settled that people started to realize what had just happened. “Wait, was that real?”
“Dr. Kelestine actually spotted the problem?”
“Does she have x–ray vision?”
Other judges crowded around Gemma, asking how she figured it out.
Suddenly, Gemma was the center of attention.
She remained calm, turning to thank Cassius.
“Mr. Cassius, thank you so much for your support earlier.”
Cassius remained calm. “I promised I’d trust you.”
Gemma paused.
When she’d first mentioned this idea, she didn’t think Cassius would follow through.

But not only did he keep his word, he continued to back her up.
If a stranger could be this reliable, but… her husband and son….
Thinking back on how they’d acted earlier, she realized how pitiful and sad her past had been.
So, with the truth now clear, she deliberately ignored the look Marcus gave her.
Up on stage. Mabel furrowed her brow and glanced at Marcus.
Marcus was still staring at Gemma, his expression oddly approving.
A chill ran through Mabel, and she spoke up suddenly.
“Did Dr. Kelestine inquire about Mr. Cedric’s condition beforehand? How could she be so certain it was a foreign object in his blood vessels?”
Her words raised doubts in the crowd.
It made sense.
Gemma was a doctor–getting insider information wouldn’t be hard.
Only if she’d known the results in advance could she have been so sure.
And the timing of that phone call was too perfect. Maybe it was all planned ahead.
Those who had praised Gemma earlier quickly distanced themselves from her.
Brian’s face darkened. “Ms. Johnson, if you’re going to speak, make sure you have proof.”
Mabel shrugged. “I’m just asking questions. Are you trying to stop me from speaking, Dr. Read?”
Gemma took a deep breath, then scoffed. “You can speak freely, but defamation is punishable by law!”
“First of all, the confidentiality of Mr. Cedric’s medical records is sacred. But more importantly, a doctor would never reveal patient information–that’s medical ethics! Ms. Johnson, with your medical background, do you really not understand this basic principle?”
Most of the people in the room were doctors, and Gemma’s words felt like a declaration of honor, a defense of their profession. The crowd started to applaud.
Mabel was taken aback, her face flushing red. She looked helplessly at Marcus.
Finally, Marcus spoke. “Since it’s all just a misunderstanding and the competition is over, let’s all head home for now.”
