Marcus was truly a pain.
But Cedric had never wronged her. In fact, at times, he’d even gone out of his way to help her out.

“Gemma, are you coming back?”

Noah nodded, suddenly feeling responsible, his energy soaring.

Gemma smiled at his enthusiasm, grabbed her coat, and headed out to catch a cab.

Cassius stood by the window, holding a wine glass.
Brooke approached him, bowing slightly.
“It’s news from the hospital. Mr. Wilson called.”
Cassius froze, his teacup pausing midair, a few drops spilling over.
The taxi outside disappeared down the street, turning into the flow of traffic.
Brooke lowered his gaze.
*Mr. Gray is critically ill. Mr. Cassius, you should visit him. Should I arrange a time?”
Cassius set his glass down slowly.

Gemma arrived at the hospital and found Cedric crouched on the floor, his hands gripping his head, as if life had been drained from him.
He seemed on the verge of breaking down.
Marcus stood by the window, the cool breeze blowing through the open window and lifting the hem of his suit jacket.
His face was stern, though there was a hint of frustration, making his features appear even more intense.
When he saw her, he sneered.
“Not causing trouble anymore, huh? Guess you finally figured it out.”
Gemma had come to do a job, and she wasn’t interested in arguing.
She just kept walking toward the operating room
But Cedric suddenly jumped up and grabbed her arm.
