The Naill Salon Scandhaing Chapter 46

Chapter 46: Gemma, I Knew You’d Be Back

Gemma thought it would take a while for help to arrive, but ten minutes after her call, the bodyguards appeared

Their presence was intimidating, radiating a sharp, almost deadly aura

Cassius really doesn’t hold back, does he?thought Gemma

While Gemma hated to assume the worst about Marcus, this was a sensitive time with their divorce underway

She didn’t want any unexpected drama

Besides, if she kept ignoring Cassius’s offered help, he might not be at ease either

This was one stone for two birds

Thank you for coming. I need you to accompany me to Wilson’s place.”

The bodyguards didn’t utter a word, stepping aside silently to let her lead the way. Gemma sighed

She’d spent years as Marcus’s wife. Hopefully, her concerns were unwarranted

Twenty minutes later

She stood before the home she once called hers

Six years ago, she’d entered this house full of excitement, nervous anticipation, and hope

She’d believed she was stepping into a life of happiness with the man she’d admired from afar

Back then, Marcus had already lost his sight. But she hadn’t cared

In the beginning, Marcus was volatile

He snapped at her and kept telling her to leave

She’d endured it all, encouraging him to stop seeing himself as a broken man

You haven’t lost everything. If God closed a door, you can still use

use the windows to see the world, she’d told him

Her efforts paid off. Over time, Marcus’s mood stabilized

He’d once said, Meeting you is another door God opened for me. I don’t need anything else in life.”

Her heart had overflowed with joy at those words

But then he’d said, I don’t want to drag you down. Now I’m living on my parentswealth. When you finish your studies, you should leave

He even offered, I’ll make sure you’re taken care of.”

Back then, Gemma hadn’t agreed, nor had she refused

She’d met Marcus at a school event when he’d been confident and full of charisma, and she’d fallen for him

When she heard his family needed a daughterinlaw to look after their son after his accident, she’d volunteered without hesitation

She’d thought, If he really doesn’t care for me, I’ll leave. I won’t demand anything from him.”

But fate had rewarded her persistence

Her research led to a cure for his blindness, and Marcus eventually recovered

Ironically, that marked the beginning of their distance

The closeness they’d shared faded into polite detachment

When the agreedupon day to part ways arrived, Marcus had surprised her. After dinner at the old estate, he’d pulled her into his arms

That night, their marriage had finally felt real

Chapter 46: Gemma, I Knew You’d Be Back

She hadn’t brought up leaving again

Yet here they were

Gemma snapped out of her thoughts as she surveyed the house, so familiar yet so changed. Everything is different now

Mrs. Wilson, you’re back!”

Gina greeted her with forced enthusiasm, but her expression darkened when she noticed the bodyguards behind Gemma

Mrs. Wilson, what’s going on!”

Gemma turned to the bodyguards and gave them quiet instructions. They retreated a few steps, staying outside

Gina, you knew I was coming, didn’t you?”

Gina’s eyes flickered. I come here to clean every day, that’s all.”

Oh?Gemma’s smile didn’t waver. Then I guess your daughter hasn’t taken my place yet.”

Gina’s face turned grim

Mrs. Wilson, what are you implying? Don’t tell me you’re accusing my daughter of trying tocompete with you?Gemma shrugged

First of all, I don’t compete. I am Mrs. Wilson.”

Gina stiffened

Second, I’m divorcing him, which you should already know. I don’t even want the man anymorewhat’s there to compete

for?”

Gina’s expression soured. Mrs. Wilson, congrats! Your little tricks indeed caught Mr. Wilson’s attention”

If not, she would have her daughter to be the maid here already

Gemma cut her off with a laugh

Relax. I’m just here to grab my things. If you’re smart, you’ll let me leave without trouble.”

Before Gina could respond, Gemma looped an arm through hers

I’m sure you’re a clever woman, Gina.”

Gina said nothing, following her into the house

The villa looked the same, down to the vase of red Peony flowers on the dining tableher favorite

Marcus sat on the sofa, holding a history book

His focus so intense that he didn’t seem to notice them enter

Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Wilson is back,Gina announced hesitantly

Marcus grunted, his eyes never leaving the page

Gemma didn’t want to waste time. Please open the study. I need to collect my books.”

When she’d left, she hadn’t forgotten her valuable books in the study

She’d simply been unable to take them

The study had become a restricted area, its door guarded by a code lock Marcus refused to share

She had no choice then. Now, she wanted them back

Marcus finally looked up, his gaze scanning her face

She seemed irritated, but there was a vitality about her he hadn’t seen in a while

Over years, this seemed the first time he had ever heard her speaking so loud in this house

What a rare thing

A sheep could actually howl

Why the rush?he said calmly. You’re already back. Let’s not ruin the moment. Go changewe’re going out to see some

friends.”

Chapter 46: Gemma, I Knew You’d Be Back

Gemma bristled

Marcus, you know why I’m here!”

He nodded. Whatever the reason, you’ve returned. Let’s not dwell on the past.”

His words stung. fanning the flames of her anger

Marcus Wilson, we’re already divorced? I’m here for my belongings!”

He smirked. Your things? Technically, they’re marital property. If we’re splitting hairs. I could take half. Can you bear

that?”

Gemma’s fists clenched

Marcus continued, unfazed

If you want an apology, fine. Sorry. There, happy now?”

He paused, thinking he’d been generous

Gemma should be crying with joyness now

He paused

And then he continued his speech

You always complained I never took you out or acknowledged you publicly. I’m fixing that now

Come meet my friends. Don’t embarrass me, and we’ll move on

Gina, prepare the bedroom and call the stylists,”

Gina rushed off, leaving Marcus and Gemma alone

Gemma,Marcus said with a patronizing smile. if my friends tease you, just laugh it off. Remember, don’t make me look

bad.”
