Chapter 54: Scamming True Love for Thirty Million, Feeling Amazing
Noah wanted to meet Gemma for an unexpected reason to buy clothes.
Gemma thought he’d ask for something outrageous, but this was such a minor thing–it was easy to handle. Marcus’s 20 million hadn’t arrived yet, but Cassius had already handed over tens of millions to her. “Gemma, my clothes are 100 expensive. I want to buy something normal.” Noah said, pausing for emphasis. He felt his explanation wasn’t clear enough.
“I mean, clothes that cost, like, a hundred bucks per outfit.”
This made Gemma take a closer look at what Noah usually wore.
Until now, she’d only noticed that his outfits were soft and perfect for a child’s delicate skin.
But today, she realized they were all custom–made and ridiculously pricey
“Gemma, is it okay? I don’t want to stand out too much. Otherwise, the other kids won’t want to play with me.”
It turned out Noah had been happy when he first started preschool.
He made lots of new friends and even got praise from his teachers.
But after a few school pickups, many kids started avoiding him.
Noal, confused, pressed one boy for answers.
The boy finally admitted his mom had said Noah’s clothes were worth millions, so rare that replacing them if damaged would be impossible.
When Noah heard this, he imagined himself as a porcelain doll.
How could he, a proud little man, let others treat him like fragile china?
So, he insisted on seeing Gemmna,
Compared to his uncle, Gemma was much easier to talk to–and she actually understood him.
“A piece of cake,” Gemma said with a soft laugh, tapping his nose. “I’ve got tons of experience with this,”
Having raised Aljah for years, she knew exactly which stores sold comfy, durable clothes and which brands had the best shoes.
“Yay!”
Noah jumped around her in excitement. “Let’s go now!
“Alright, I’ll take you to a budget–friendly mall
“Gemma, you’re the best!”
“Oh, you little sweet–talker! Have you been eating too much candy lately?”
“Nope, I haven’t had any! I just really like you, Gemma!”
Gemma couldn’t help laughing again and scooped him up for a spin.
“Why are you so adorable?”
“Because people like me are drawn to you, Gemma. It’s all because you’re amazing!”
Gemma’s heart was completely melted.
The frustration Marcus caused earlier was now long gone.
They arrived at an affordable mall.
The upper floors had luxury brands.
But the first floor was filled with reasonably priced stores.
“Gemma, do you want to buy something for yourself too?”
Noah glanced disdainfully at his uncle.
Uncle Cassius was clueless–shopping together and not even thinking of making Gemma happy?
Hadn’t all those TV dramas taught him anything?

Buy, buy, buy–that’s how you win a woman’s attention!
As if to prove Noah’s point, Cassius didn’t pick up on any hints. Instead, a phone call pulled him away temporarily.
Noah sighed dramatically.
Gemma wasn’t surprised.
With Cassius around, she couldn’t say much anyway.
His absence made things easier
After buying four or five outfits, Noah immediately stopped.
“That’s enough. I need to be frugal, like my classmates.”
Gemma thought about it.
These were fine for school, but Noah would still need his expensive outfits for events or other occasions.
“Alright, whatever you say.
“Gemma, can we go upstairs? I want to look around.”
How could Gemma resist when her little dumpling begged? She took him upstairs.
The moment they reached the luxury floor, they spotted Mabel.

Gemma wanted to take Noah to another floor but was stopped by Mabel.
“Gemma, it’s really you! If you like something, I can gift you one or two pieces.
I know you’ll say you’re rich, but Marcus’s money hasn’t arrived yet. You shouldn’t spend in advance. What if something unexpected happens?”
The implication was clear-
Marcus might not pay what he’d promised.
Gemma clenched her teeth in anger. As soon as they left the mall, she’d call her lawyer to start the divorce process.
“You haven’t bought new clothes for the season, right? Try this one–it’s my gift. Don’t be shy.”
Mabel casually picked out a plain black dress that looked cheap and unflattering
But Gemma just smiled. “If it’s a gift, it should be something I actually like. I’ll take this one.”
She reached for a red tasseled gown.
“I love this one.”
The saleswoman gasped. “That’s our store’s signature piece!”
The dress was only displayed for the ad campaign to draw attention.
“Oh That’s fine. Ms. Johnson wouldn’t be stingy. Just charge it to her.”
Mabel had planned to humiliate Gemma. She thought Gemma would get mad but refuse to take anything
To her surprise, Gemma’s shamelessness had leveled up post–divorce talks, leaving Mabel outplayed.
But since she’d already spoken, she couldn’t back out publicly.
Through gritted teeth, she asked, “How much is it?”
“Thirty million,” said the saleswoman.
“What?” Mabel thought she’d misheard

The saleswoman explained, “This is a one–of–a–kind design by Cali, a world–renowned designer.”
Gemma pretended to be understanding. “If it’s too much for you, Ms. Johnson, I won’t force it.”
“Ah, the 20 million Marcus owes me isn’t here because we fell out of love ages ago.
But you’re Mr. Wilson’s true love. Is true love worth less than thirty million?
Even a soon–to–be ex–wife outranks you. I feel sorry for you, really.”
Mabel’s cars burned as her whole body trembled.
“But hey, true love is generous. Thanks for the dress!”
Gemma’s smile was as bright as ever–her words were sharp enough to kill.
The saleswoman quickly packed the gown, handing it to Gemma with utmost respect,
Gemma twisted the knife.
“You picked a great ambassador. Did the cost of the dress cover her endorsement fee?
The implication? This brainless celeb was dragging the brand down.
The saleswoman showed an awkward smile. Well, she couldn’t sway the leader’s decision either.
Mabel’s face contorted with rage
She called Marcus on the spot.
“Marcus! What’s wrong with Gemma? Did you fight again? Why is she asking me for divorce money?”
“I can’t decide on that. But to calm her down, I had to buy her a forty–million–dollar gown. You two should talk.”
