Cassius scanned the room with a cold, piercing gaze. No one dared meet his eyes; everyone nervously looked away, avoiding his sharp scrutiny.
Finally, his gaze landed on the man who had just spoken.
“Keagan Beasley, repeat what you just said.”
His lips parted, the words spilling out like ice-

Elizabeth, left to clean up the mess at home, stumbled across an incriminating recording hidden inside a robot.
The shock triggered a heart attack, and her health–already strained–deteriorated further.
Now, she was hanging by a thread.
Keagan was visibly shaken.
He knew the truth: Cassius only protected the Beasley family because of Elizabeth.

“Cassius, I didn’t mean it that way!” Keagan blurted. “It was the robot! That thing caused my mom’s heart attack–I was just angry!”
Keagan’s new fiancée, Yvonne, pursed her lips, her voice dripping with malice.
“Murderers should pay with their lives. Just throwing her out of the family? That’s way too easy!”
Gemma’s calm, sharp eyes swept over Yvonne. There was a flicker of fire in her gaze.
“Who fed you that crap? It stinks worse than a landfill!”
Yvonne’s face flushed red, then white with anger.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you talk to me like that!”
“Funny you should ask,” Gemma shot back. “I just so happen to be the president of the Association for Exterminating Homewreckers.”
Yvonne yanked on Keagan’s sleeve, furious.
Keagan scowled. “Cassius, keep your woman under control!”
Cassius radiated a chilling energy so intense it felt like the room’s temperature had dropped to freezing

“If you know she’s mine, how dare you talk to her like that?”
Keagan’s eyes widened in shock, darting between Cassius and Gemma.
His heart pounded.
Had he misheard?
Gemma stepped forward, locking eyes with Yvonne.
“Full glam in a hospital? What are you hiding under that foundation?”
“And that white dress–trying to make your neck look even paler than your face?”
“No wonder I can’t empathize with someone like you. We’re not even on the same wavelength.”
Yvonne was so furious she nearly choked. She raised her hand, ready to strike.
Keagan wasn’t entirely stupid–he quickly held her back.
Gemma glanced at Cassius, whose face was as cold as ice. She gently ruffled Noah’s hair.
“Mr. Cassius, looks like the barking dog finally shut up. I’ll head inside now.”
“You little-” Yvonne lunged forward, eyes blazing with hatred, but Keagan grabbed her, whispering in desperation.
“Please, for the love of God, stay quiet. She’s not someone you can mess with.”
Yvonne struggled but couldn’t break free. She glared as Gemma disappeared into the emergency room.
“Who is she? What if she harms the old lady?”
Yvonne muttered, clearly eager to stir up more trouble.
Cassius pulled Noah closer, his icy demeanor exuding an overwhelming sense of authority.
Yvonne fell silent, trembling in Keagan’s arms
At last, the room was quiet.
Half an hour later, the emergency room doors opened.
Elizabeth was pushed out.
Everyone rushed forward
“Mom!” Elizabeth was wheeled out, her face covered with a white sheet.
Keagan was the first to notice.
His knees buckled, and he collapsed onto the floor.
He loved Yvonne but never wanted his mother to die.
How could he live with this guilt?
“Mom!” he cried, his voice breaking.
Hands up and down, down and up again.
But he never dared to open the white cloth to take a last look.
The rest of the Beasley family was equally devastated. Selah couldn’t even stand; she slumped to the ground, tears streaming silently.
Yvonne, however, was secretly overjoyed.
The old hag had taken Mr. Beasley from her mother years ago, leaving her mom to waste away in misery.
Now, Yvonne had finally avenged her. She feigned a sorrowful expression
“I told you letting someone else in there was risky. Look what’s happened now!”
Cassius’s fists clenched. He couldn’t move, his feet like lead.
Noah tugged at his sleeve, tears welling in his eyes.
“Uncle Cassius, is Auntie
Before he could finish, Yvonne sneered. “Murderers must pay! That woman should be buried with the Madame Elizabeth!”

Keagan, consumed by rage, shouted, “Where is she? Bring her out!”
If he had a knife, he would’ve sliced Gemma into pieces.
Brooke stepped forward and punched the wall next to Yvonne, shaking loose chunks of plaster.
Yvonne shrank back, terrified.
Keagan wasn’t afraid of Brooke. He grabbed him by the collar.
“You’re all tough now? Why didn’t you stop that woman earlier? She killed my mom!”
Brooke shoved him off. “Mr. Beasley, you should know better than anyone who put the old lady in the ICU ”
“I swear to-” Keagan raised his hand to strike, but the doors opened again.
Gemma emerged, still adjusting her surgical gown.
She frowned at the chaotic scene.
“What’s going on now, Mr. Cassius?” she asked calmly.
Before Cassius could reply, her eyes fell on the covered body. She scowled.
“Who covered her like that? Trying to make things even messier?”
With that, she pulled back the sheet, revealing Elizabeth’s serene, albeit slightly annoyed, face.
Everyone froze, more stiff than statues
Elizabeth sighed.
“I covered myself. I’m embarrassed enough already. Sorry for making you laugh, Dr. Kelestine.”
Everyone was speechless. This was beyond dramatic.
“Mom! You’re okay!”
Keagan finally realized. He dropped to his knees, sabbing.
Elizabeth shook her head.
“Go apologize to Dr. Kelestine. If she doesn’t forgive you, pack your bags and get out of the Beasley family!”
