Selena’s POV
The murmurs and whispers of the pack members around intensified. Linda rushed through the crowd and held Zane by the
arm.
“Please don‘ t fight because of me.” She pleaded with tears in her eyes, and trembling lips. However, her eyes danced with triumph as she pretended to plead on my behalf.
“Luna Selena doesn’t deserve to be
rejected because of me. It’s all my fault. I will leave and never come back!” Linda
sobbed.
Zane immediately wrapped his arms around her, and began consoling her.
“You don’t have to leave, nothing is your fault. Selena is just being an evil bitch!” He spat, glaring at me with spite.

I snorted in disdain as I turned to leave
again. Again, Zane repeated the same
threat.
“If you leave without doing this dance, I will reject you, Selena. I’m not playing.” He threatened with a low growl.
I turned to him with a daring smirk on my face. “I dare you to do just that.” I taunted.
“What?” He asked in confusion, and his mouth gaped open in surprise.
“I dare you to reject me, Zane.” I repeated coolly, my smirk widening.
Zane turned red at my words, especially as the pack members continued murmuring among themselves. He wouldn’t want to look like he was just bluffing.
“Really, Selena? Alright then. I, Alpha Zane, reject you, Selena, as my mate.” He declared, and instantly the whole room fell
silent.

I gave him a smile that really confused him, because my plan had finally worked. I knew Zane very well–he was a very proud alpha, and if I had rejected him, he wouldn’t have accepted the rejection, making the rejection void. However, one thing Zane always did was to threaten me with rejection. He knew I had no one. My parents were dead, I had no siblings, not relatives–no one. So he always threatened to reject me so that I would behave. This time however, I had dared him to reject me in the presence of everyone, and because of his pride, he had fallen right into my trap. I had been trying to get him to reject me, so that I could easily accept and finally be free.
“I, Luna Selena, accept your rejection.” I declared my smile widening in glee as I finally felt the mate bond between us snap.
The pack members gasped, and they began to murmur among themselves in disbelief. Zane’s eyes widened, his mouth gaped open, and he was speechless for a moment.

He clearly hadn’t expected me to accept the rejection. He was just trying to threaten me to behave–He hadn’t meant the rejection. Unfortunately for him, he had given me the ticket to my freedom.
I turned to Linda. “He’s all yours, Linda. Congratulations”
“Wh–Why…How–Why did you do this?” He stammered. He still looked like he couldn’t believe what had happened, even though he had been the one to reject
- me.
I snorted in amusement. “Are you really asking me that question, Zane? For years, I have been enduring and bearing your
attitude towards me since Linda came into our lives.”
Zane opened his mouth to speak, but I cut him off.
“Let me finish,” I snapped, “It was obvious that you had been sleeping with Linda. You would come back home

smelling of Linda and sex, but I kept enduring it.”
“Finally, I became pregnant again, after the healers said it would be difficult.” I
continued, and the room fell silent.
At my words. Zane shook his head in
disbelief. “That’s a lie, Selena. You cannot get pregnant. Stop saying things just to get attention.”
Zane didn’t care that all the pack members were present and watching everything.
Fortunately for me, the head healer was also present, so she stepped forward..
“It’s true, Alpha. The Luna was
pregnant. She came to the clinic for a test.” She declared.
Zane’s face brightened at my words. “So, we’re going to have a baby?”
I gave him a cold glare. “Not anymore, Zane. I WAS pregnant. The baby is gone.
