“There are six of them, surely she can choose one and the rest then can be betrothed to the high tribes…” was heard by an arguing group
“How did a human get paired with such high beings? How did the get through the barrier?” asked another one of the High Elders.
Finally the Kings had enough of the bickering so Lucien, using his Dragon voice, screamed “ENOUGH!”
When the chamber became quiet, Lucien stated very calmly “Everly is our fated mate and she will be with all of us. We will not take another. up for discussion.”

He held up his hand, silencing the once again growing voices. “The human girl has not been properly claimed yet. The High Kings shall mark and mate her by the next full moon in a Royal Ceremony or the Kings shall announce their betrothal to the daughters of the High Tribes of Drakkon Vale and shall take them by the following full moon.” High Elder Vikram looked to the council and the Kings for opposition, and he sent a challenging look directly at Elder Hangman. When no one said anything, he hit his gavel and then stated, “it is settled.”
The Kings would mark and mate their rightful Queen, but the problem was that the next full moon was in 5 days. And Everly was not going to like the one stipulation that is decreed being the Royal Ceremony. It was something that the Kings were hoping to not discuss with her so early. She was only. eighteen and they wanted to take things slow with her. The Royal Ceremony required that the mating and marking be done in front of representatives of all the kingdoms.
“Any other business?” High Elder Gershman asked? No one said anything and just before he hit the gravel, a sweet cloaked figure appeared in the middle of the chamber saying, “there is one more thing to discuss.”

Gracie, who had been watching most of the events of the day in the shadows, removed her hood from her figure and gasps could be heard as she revealed her face. A large jagged scar was on her face; it was raw as the fiercest claw mark and contrasted against her delicate pale skin. The High Kings‘ hearts began to clinch tightly as they saw the nasty mark on her face,
She turned to the old man and bit back in the most sarcastic tone saying “good to see you too Freddie! I’m okay, seen better days, but thank you so much for asking! Always the gentleman.” She finished with rolling her eyes before she turned and faced the rest of the chamber.
“My Kings and Council, I have been watching and while Elder Hangman was on the correct path about the ancient laws, he has left out one very important detail. I will give the old man the benefit of the doubt that he forgot about this and is not purposely withholding vital information” him a look like a mother was scolding her child. “The scroll details that while a King can rule, he must claim a mate under the tradition Ceremony to keep his crown. However Azrael himself created an absolute law based on a vision that he was given. He decreed that the noble house of Azreal would one day be destined to be with one mate. And when that happens, those six kings shall be crowned Supre Realms after they are mated and marked according to the Royal decree.”

The Kings were smirking while Thaddeus and Heppitaz were fuming along with some of the councilmen who did not like that the young Kings would have increased power. Many secretly hated the human race and saw them inferior and now one was going to be made Supreme Queen! Many other Elders were interested to learn more.
“And to answer your burning question Elder Havenshaw, Everly is someone very special. She is not a normal human. Only someone extraordinary could break the Chamber seal. She is going to surprise us all.” Gracie smiled wickedly and turned to the High Kings, still sitting there speechless. “Everly is safe. Stella found her running in the woods and they are walking back now. Jax called the warriors for protection. Go to her. You have much to discuss.”
Lucien nodded and Gracie winked before she just went “pool“.
The High Elders hit the gavel three times closing the meeting for the day. Each member of the Council and the Kings pricked their fingers in the sacred chalice and the barrier receded. While many Elders continued to talk amongst themselves, the Kings hurriedly rushed out of the Grand Council Chamber as fast as their legs could take them. No one noticed Thaddeus and Heppitaz sneaking out and heading back to the portal where they had a special guest waiting for them back in the Terra Realm. There were plans to make.

Everly POV
Iran and ram and van. I had ditched my shoes while flying down the garden steps. Pristine secune palace walls turned to lush gardens and stone pavements and then turned into a vast forest of never ending colors. Stones and sticks pokes my hate feet and low hanging limbs scraped my face and arms and tore at my clothes. By the time I stopped running, the sun was setting. The normal blue and purple skies were painted a deep orange.
I caught my breath and sat at the base of a large tree with yellow and purple leaves that were the size of elephant ears. I curled my knees to my chest. and let my heart break. I felt numb. I was madly in love with them already, stupid mate bond, but I guess it didn’t matter.
A loud whining honel rang out in the silence of the forest, I ignored it and continued to buy my head in my hands. I don’t know how long I was sitting there. I suddenly felt a wet sout on my knees then a slobbery tongue began to lather my fingertips. I looked up and noticed it was Stella’s brown and white wolf Star and I immediately flung myself into her soft pelt, hugging her neck and burying my face,
She let me hug her and even wrapped her head arsund my back, protecting me. When I finally released her from my grasp, I sat back against the tree

Stella came and sat down and wrapped her arms around me in a loving embrace. “Want to talk about it?” she asked. The flood gates in my eyes opened back up and I told her what happened. She just let me talk and then pulled me up, brushed off the dist, helped me fix my face, and we started walking
back.
Stella told me about how the Kings couldn’t get out of the chamber because of some spell. She had seen me run and was already following me. When I had fled into the forest, she mind linked lax, he rounded up his warriors, and they followed my scent.
According to Stella, there were actually fifty wolves surrounding us in a perimeter formation, keeping us safe from possible threats. Stella gave me verbal thrashing as we walked back about how dangerous it was to leave the palace without a proper escort. “As the future queen, you have to think about your safety, Eve.”
Arrow, the Alpha woll, led the way through the foliage, and just as the sum fully set and the night sky painted the vast space above, we cleared the forest edge and back into the gardens where all six of my mates were pacing back and forth.
As soon as they noticed us, all six of them came barreling towards me, Octavius reached me first and scooped me up in his arms. I wrapped my legs around his waist and buried my face in his neck, new tears streaming down my face. All my mutes hugged and kissed me. I heard Atticus and Alezander playfully tease me as they littered my shoulders with kissing saying things like “you are so much trouble little one!” and “I may just have to chain you. to the bed if you try to run away again.”
I was relieved and I was exhausted. I snuggled into Octavius‘ warm embrace and I began to drift off to sleep.
The last thing I heard before I passed out was Lucien muzzling my neck and whispering “you are ours, Everly. We choose you little mate. No one is taking you away from us. We will tell you everything in the morning”
