Chapter 1 Teaser
Hot. It’s so hot.
It felt as awful as though she was thrown into the desert under the scorching sun.
…
Three o’clock in the morning.
The lights in the presidential suite were turned on all of a sudden. At the same time, several people made their way into the room, and blinding camera flashes lit up the room as though the sun was already brightly shining.
A tired girl was sleeping soundly on the messy gigantic bed. Bruises could be seen on her porcelain-like arms and shoulders. A torn nightgown was found on the floor implying how wild and raunchy last night was.
The flashlight from the camera hurt the woman’s eyes. She felt uncomfortable and slowly opened them.
As she tried to focus her view, suddenly, a figure showed up in front of her before she could grasp the situation.
It was none other than Xia An, her fiancé, who tried to flatter her on her eighteenth birthday last night. He rushed over with a stern look on his face and slapped her in the face abruptly.
Smack! The slap was so loud that it resonated in the room.
Xia An began to curse, “You were messing with other guys behind my back?!”
A crushing pain seared through her face. Suddenly, fingerprints could be seen on her swollen cheeks.
Mu Zhisheng covered herself with the blanket. With a cold look on her face, she raised her head. Wrath could be seen in her eyes as she stared at Xia An who was standing by the bed.
“You drugged me!” Mu Zhisheng glared at Xia An in the eyes.
Xia An was her fiancé; the person whom she trusted the most. Never would she imagine that he would be the one who hurt her the most.
A hint of unease could be detected in Xia An’s eyes as he turned around. He had no courage to look at Mu Zhisheng in the eyes. Xia An looked around, “Where’s the other guy?”
He arranged two go-go dancers for Mu Zhisheng last night, but she didn’t go into the room he prepared for her. Xia An checked the surveillance recordings and found out that Mu Zhisheng went into another room instead. Just then, she saw another guy made his way into the same room after she went in and never came out. It was different from what Xia An had in mind, but it had the same outcome.
“That should be my question, young master Xia!” Mu Zhisheng replied in a cold tone.
Xia An paid no heed to where the other guy went because he achieved what he came for.
Xia An looked at Mu Zhisheng scornfully, “Mu Zhisheng, I thought that you would at least admit your mistake after what you have done. How dare you blame me instead and lie to everyone saying that I was the one who drugged you. I refuse to spend the rest of my life with such a promiscuous and cunning woman like you!”
Xia An turned around and had his eyes locked on the cameras.
He raised his hand righteously, “I, Xia An, hereby declare that from today onwards, the marriage between Mu Zhisheng and I would be canceled.”
Having said that, Xia An marched out of the room with the horde of reporters without looking back.
Mu Zhisheng was still in a daze and she couldn’t grasp what was going on. Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was her grandmother who called.
She tried to calm herself down and replied politely.
“Hello, grandma…”
An unknown woman’s voice could be heard from the other end of the call, “Hello. The owner of this phone was involved in an accident. Please head over to the hospital immediately.”
…
…
Three days later in the cemetery.
Mu Zhisheng was dressed in black. She kneeled in front of her grandmother’s tomb for a long period of time. Mu Zhisheng looked at her grandmother’s portrait on the tomb; she felt guilty and apologetic.
Three days before, her grandmother was involved in an accident. By the time she made it to the hospital, her grandmother had passed on.
The maids told Mu Zhisheng that someone had called her grandmother before the accident happened. That unknown person told her grandmother that something bad happened to her and asked grandma to go there immediately. In the end… such a tragic accident occurred.
However, such a call log couldn’t be found on her grandmother’s phone.
Who could it be that called grandma?
The guests had left the cemetery. A girl dressed in all white stood behind Mu Zhisheng with a bright smile on her face.
“No matter how long you kneel in front of her tomb, your grandmother wouldn’t revive.” Mu Yurou was harsh with her words.
Mu Zhisheng didn’t bother to turn around. Instead, she stared in front coldly, “Mu Yurou, she’s your grandmother too. Please show some respect.”
Mu Yurou was Mu Zhisheng’s father and Mrs. Mu’s daughter, but Mrs. Mu wasn’t her biological mom. In fact, Mrs. Mu was her father’s concubine and only became Mu Zhisheng’s father’s official spouse after her mom passed on.
Mu Zhisheng’s brother was two years younger than her while Mu Yurou was one year younger. Her brother went missing when she was three years old.
Mu Zhisheng’s grandmother was the one who protected her after her mother passed on and Mrs. Mu became her father’s official spouse. Her grandmother would step in and defend her whenever Mrs. Mu tried to abuse her.
“Grandma?” Mu Yurou had a vicious smile on her gorgeous face, “Since when did she ever treat me like her granddaughter? You’re the only granddaughter she had in mind. Why? I’m dad’s daughter too.”
Mu Zhisheng remained silent.
Mu Yourou laughed, “It doesn’t matter anymore. She’s no longer around. Oh, I forgot to tell you something. Dad decided to send you abroad because of what you did. You gotta live on your own from now on because rumors about how you messed around with other guys got out. You brought shame to Mu Family and dad. The stock price of Mu Group took a dip because of you. And, by the way, your flight is scheduled in the afternoon.”
“Apart from that, I will be engaged to young master Xia in a week.” Mu Yurou was proud of herself as she announced the news.
Mu Zhisheng paused for a moment.
She finally figured out the reason Xia An turned his back against her. Mu Yurou’s mom became the official Mrs. Mu; she would be the official heiress of the family as well. Mu Zhisheng, on the other hand, would become an isolated orphan. It would be obvious whose side Xia An should pick. However, Mu Zhisheng would never have thought that they would frame her through such despicable means.
Mu Zhisheng bit her lips, “So, you’re the one who worked with Xia An to drug me three days ago.”
It seemed like Mu Zhisheng hit the bull’s eye. Mu Yurou placed a finger in front of her lips and acted as if she was anxious, but she wasn’t afraid at all.
“Shh. Don’t tell anyone else. We wouldn’t want them to figure out what happened. Haha…” Mu Yurou sneered and mocked Mu Zhisheng, “Even if we did frame you, do you have any evidence? If you don’t, the court wouldn’t even consider your appeal.”
Mu Zhisheng clenched her fists. Her knuckles turned white because of how angry she was.
“Oh, there’s one more thing!” Mu Yurou provoked Mu Zhisheng even further, “Thirteen years ago, your brother heard that you were waiting for him in the park and made his way over there like a fool. Turns out, he never got to make his way back.”
Mu Zhisheng was stunned, and she looked bewilderedly at Mu Yurou. She could feel her blood boiling, “It was you.”
Mu Yurou had a charming smile on her face when she saw how enraged Mu Zhisheng was. She moved backwards so Mu Zhisheng couldn’t reach her.
Mu Yurou was almost certain that Mu Zhisheng wouldn’t be able to survive after she was sent abroad. That was why she dared tell her everything.
“Oh my. I have a date with young master Xia tonight. I better go back and get ready. Dad and mom are still waiting for me. Goodbye, sister. I’ll be on my way. I also won’t be sending you off at the airport this afternoon.”
Mu Yurou walked away as if she was on a fashion show stage after she finished her sentence.
A pair of bloodshot eyes could be seen as Mu Zhisheng glared at Mu Yurou’s back.
Mu Zhisheng swore to destroy everything Mu Yurou had someday.
