Chapter 4 Three Months Max

Ji Zhisheng just registered her contact number. She didn’t even notify anyone about it. How did this person manage to get her contact number?
Right then, Ji Zhisheng became alert and squinted her eyes.
“It’s me. May I know who’s this?”
“I am Yan Qianmo.”
What? Yan Qianmo?
She knew only one Yan Qianmo. He was none other than the director of Yan Corporation, the richest and most influential corporate entity in An City. Apart from that, Yan Qianmo was the most handsome guy in An City. A lot of women in An City wanted to marry him.
Ji Zhisheng subconsciously asked, “May I know which Yan Qianmo are you?”
A faint voice could be heard coming from the other end of the call, “Ms. Ji, do you know of any other Yan Qianmo?”
Ji Zhisheng was at a loss for words.
“Mr. Yan, how did you get my contact number?” Ji Zhisheng had her doubts. She asked, “May I know what sort of business you have with me?”
Someone who stands on top of the corporate world wouldn’t reach out to an ordinary citizen like me, right?
Perhaps… is someone pretending to be him?
“Ms. Ji, I heard that you saved my grandma today.”
Erm. The person I saved today is Yan Qianmo’s grandma? That would mean she’s the empress dowager of An City.
Ji Zhisheng thought about it carefully.
“It’s nothing! If you’re trying to repay me for what I did, it would be unnecessary!”
“I would like to request Ms. Ji to help me out on something.”
Ji Zhisheng thought that Yan Qianmo would end the call after she had rejected him because she assumed that he wouldn’t want any more to do with her. However, things took a turn and caught her by surprise.
“Erm. What would that be?”
“Let’s meet in person.” Yan Qianmo replied as if he was delivering an instruction.
Ji Zhisheng was speechless.

She had no idea why Yan Qianmo approached her. After all, he was such an influential figure.
However, Ji Zhisheng wasn’t afraid of regular business tycoons, but Yan Qianmo was way too influential in An City. In fact, he could easily do anything he wanted in An City as long as he wanted to. Thus, Ji Zhisheng decided to do as instructed.
Hence, she called for a cab and made her way back to Yan Mansion within only an hour after she had left that place.
Soon after, Ji Zhisheng arrived at Yan Mansion again. The guards were so much friendlier this time. They greeted and addressed her as Ms. Ji and personally opened the door for her.
Most probably, it was Yan Qianmo’s instructions, right?
The maids came out and welcomed Ji Zhisheng the moment she entered the mansion.
“Ms. Ji, young master is waiting for you in the study room. Please follow us.”
“Okay.”
The maids brought Ji Zhisheng over to the study room. The door was open. There were people reporting their progress to Yan Qianmo. Halfway through the reporting session, Yan Qianmo lost his cool and threw a file at the person who was reporting.
Yan Qianmo scolded sternly, “What is the planning department doing? How dare you give me such a poorly done proposal? Redo everything immediately. If I don’t see a new proposal by tomorrow, get the hell out of the company.”
“Yes! We’ll get it done!”
The planning department’s director jittered and picked up the documents on the floor before he ran out of the study room.
The maids wanted to announce Ji Zhisheng’s arrival, but they were frightened when they saw what was going on. They smiled awkwardly and told Ji Zhisheng, “Ms. Ji, young master is waiting for you inside. Please go in. We’ll take our leave now.”
The maids turned around and fled immediately after they finished speaking.
And that left Ji Zhisheng was speechless again.
She took a peek at Yan Qianmo.
Yan Qianmo had buttoned his white shirt up until the very first button. He was handsome and had delicate features on his refined face. A menacing aura could be detected coming from his ashen brows; which dispersed anybody’s romantic imaginations towards him. It was a presence exuded by those of the upper echelon.
It was mid-spring April, yet it felt like mid-winter December because of Yan Qianmo’s appearance. One couldn’t help but tremble around him.
Ji Zhisheng had a gut feeling that Yan Qianmo was a dangerous man.
Ji Zhisheng bit the bullet and knocked on the door. She cleared her throat before talking to him.
“Hello, Mr. Yan. I’m Ji Zhisheng!”
The man sitting behind the desk with a cold expression on his face raised his head and looked at Ji Zhisheng.
Ji Zhisheng could feel the pressure coming from the man in front of her as he had his eyes locked on her. It was obvious that Yan Qianmo was checking her out.
After a few seconds, Yan Qianmo pointed at the couch in front of him, “Ms. Ji, please have a seat!”
Ji Zhisheng walked over while she tried to withstand the pressure she was feeling.
She sat on the couch and looked at Yan Qianmo with a serious expression on her face.
“Mr. Yan, may I know what sort of business you have with me?”
“My grandma.”
“Huh?”
“My grandma suffers from intermittent amnesia and thinks that you are my late sister.”
Ji Zhisheng pointed at herself in the face in disbelief, “Me?”
Yan Qianmo nodded. A hint of sorrow could be detected on his expressionless face.
“So, the reason Mr. Yan invited me over is…?”
“The doctor said that grandma’s condition doesn’t allow her to face the truth of my late sister’s passing. So…”
Ji Zhisheng knitted her eyebrows.
“So, Mr. Yan, you invited me over because you need me to… pretend as if I’m your sister?”
“I guess you can say so.”
“I’m so sorry, Mr. Yan. I’m afraid I have to let you down.”
“As long as you accept to do this, I will fulfill any conditions you have in mind.” Yan Qianmo promised in a generous manner.
It was an attractive offer.
Ji Zhisheng rejected him, “Mr. Yan, I’m sure you ran a background check on me. I’m a lawyer. I won’t do anything that goes against my principle.”
Yan Qianmo looked at Ji Zhisheng for a few seconds before he stood up all of a sudden.
Ji Zhisheng subconsciously became nervous.
Yan Qianmo handed over a stack of documents to Ji Zhisheng.
“Ms. Ji, please have a look before you make the call.”
Taking over the stack of documents, Ji Zhisheng’s pupils constricted the moment she browsed through it.
It was a diagnosis report generated by the hospital.
All sorts of diagnoses indicated but only one thing; Mrs. Yan was in a critical condition. Most probably, she wouldn’t pull through if she were to take another blow.
The contents of the report hit Ji Zhisheng right on her soft spot.
Ji Zhisheng held on to the report firmly with her hands.
What a jerk!
Yan Qianmo continued to speak when he saw how Ji Zhisheng’s expression changed.
“Ever since today afternoon, she has gone on a hunger strike. She refuses to eat unless she gets to see you.” Yan Qianmo’s words were the last straw that broke Ji Zhisheng’s determination.
Ji Zhisheng gently closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It seemed as if she had decided to give in to Yan Qianmo’s request by the time she opened her eyes.
“Fine. Mr. Yan, I can promise you, but I have my own conditions as well.”
“Let’s hear it out.”
“Three months max. After three months, I won’t be meeting Mrs. Yan anymore, no matter how her condition will be.”
“Consider it done!” Yan Qianmo nodded, “What would Ms. Ji want in return?”
Ji Zhisheng shook her head.
“Mr. Yan, I’m helping you because of Mrs. Yan. I don’t want anything in return because that would mean that we’re striking a deal. That isn’t my intention.”
“Alright, but please feel free to request if there’s anything you need.”
“Alright.”
Yan Qianmo reached out, “Grandma will be in your care.”
Ji Zhisheng reached out her hand in return and shook Yan Qianmo’s hand.
Ji Zhisheng was unsure why, but she could feel as if an invisible tentacle made its way from Yan Qianmo to her through her hand and it was wrapping around her tightly.
Yan Qianmo briefly explained what was happening in Yan’s Family to Ji Zhisheng.
They were currently at Yan Mansion. Yan Qianmo and his grandma were the only ones that lived in the mansion. Yan Qianmo’s parents lived in another villa. They went abroad recently and wouldn’t be back for the time being.
Yan Qianmo and Ji Zhisheng walked out of the study room and went to Mrs. Yan’s bedroom.
Yan Qianmo knocked on the door.
He was ignored.
Yan Qianmo knocked again, “Grandma!”
“I told you I’m not eating. I refuse to eat if Le Le isn’t around!”
“She’s right here beside me.”
“Stop lying to me. I don’t trust you. If she’s really here, why don’t you get her to reach out to me?”
Yan Qianmo looked at Ji Zhisheng and signaled her.
Ji Zhisheng cleared her throat, “Grandma, it’s me. I’m Le Le. Please open the door.”
Silence fell in the room before footsteps could be heard rushing over to open the door. The doorknob moved, but the door remained shut.
“Hmph. You naughty girl. You refuse to visit me even after you returned to An City. Do you think I’ll let you in because you asked me to? No way!”
Ji Zhisheng rolled her eyes as if she came up with an idea.
“Grandma, if you’re not opening the door then I’ll be leaving now.”
Silence fell again. Mrs. Yan didn’t reply.
Ji Zhisheng repeated, “Then, I’ll be on my way.”
The door opened after Ji Zhisheng finished her sentence. Mrs. Yan rushed out of the room and grabbed onto Ji Zhisheng’s wrist with all her might. It was as if she was afraid that Ji Zhisheng would run away the moment she let her go.
“Don’t you dare leave!” Mrs. Yan glared at Ji Zhisheng in the eyes.
