“Elsie, have you lost your mind?”
“How could you be so gullible? I was only abroad for a few months study art, and yet you allowed yourself to be driven away by that scheming woman, Missy?”
“Seriously, if you wanted to use divorce to get back at my brother, you shouldn’t have made it public?”

wife?”
Dennis York rattled off his words without taking a breath, a faint smile appeared on Elsie’s lips as she quietly listened,
Dennis was Ronald’s cousin. Back in the day, he never missed a chance to mock her for being mute, saying she wasn’t good enough for Ronald.
He believed only Missy was worthy of Ronald.
Whenever he faced setbacks outside, he would call to insult her, knowing she couldn’t speak and persistently taunted her as “little
mute.
But a few months ago, he suddenly called to apologize. Though his words were still harsh, they were now filled with a protective
tone.
Their relationship had only started to improve since then.
Otherwise, Elsie wouldn’t have answered Dennis’s call today.
Dennis listened to the long silence on the other end, knowing Elsie couldn’t speak but still not hanging up.
He didn’t say anything more either.
After a few minutes, his phone buzzed with a new message.
It was from Elsie.
[The divorce is real. I really don’t like Ronald anymore. Don’t go looking for him. There’s nothing to say between us, and nothing to say to you either.]
[Missy is pregnant. You’re about to become an uncle. Congratulations.]
“What? Missy is pregnant? Ronald, that fool, how could he even take a liking to that wretch, Missy?”
Elsie couldn’t help but smile at the sudden outburst on the other end.
She tapped her phone, the dull sound reaching Dennis, making him stop his rant.
After a while, just when Elsie thought Dennis had hung up, she heard him say,
“You’re doing the right thing. The sooner you divorce my idiot brother, the better. He deserves to be alone forever.”

My brother doesn’t deserve you. I’ll introduce you to my friends. Tityre all into art like you, and they’re all good–looking young men! They are far superior to my brother.
Elsie stifled a laugh and cent Dennis a message.
(No need, I am currently focused on preparing for the competition in Novaria and have no such intentions at the moment.j
[If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up. I have things to do.
As soon as she sent the message, Elsie hung up without waiting for Dennis’s response.
Dennis, on the other hand, immediately called Ronald after being hung up on.
He called once, but Ronald didn’t pick up. Knowing it was around 4 AM back home, he kept calling, until Ronald finally answered after about ten tries.
“Hello?” Ronald’s voice was hoarse from a hangover.
Dennis didn’t care and started berating him repeatedly.
“Ronald, how could you divorce Elsie? Where in the world will you find another woman who asks for nothing from you and treats you so well?
“And you kept that scheming Missy around and got her pregnant? Seriously, Ronald, are you out of your mind?”
Ronald frowned and hung up.
He had only slept a few hours, and Dennis’s voice was like a bomb going off in his ear, giving him a headache.
But just a few seconds later, the phone rang again.
Ronald pressed the reject button, but Dennis called back immediately.
After rejecting the call several times, Ronald was fully awake.
With a grim expression, he answered the call. Before Dennis could say anything, he rasped out.
“Dennis, think before you speak. Don’t push me.”
Dennis’s anger cooled a bit.
He tightened his grip on the phone and said stubbornly, “What? You can do all these despicable things, but I can’t call you out on
them?”
“Elsie is all alone in Novaria, probably miserable. She treated you so well before, and this is how you repay her.”
Ronald’s breathing grew heavier, his voice low. “She’s not doing well in Novaria?”
“How could she be? Dennis retorted sarcastically, “Her husband, whom she loved deeply, not only slept with her sister but also got her pregnant. How could she be okay?”
Ronald’s breath caught. “She told you she wants a divorce because of that?”
Didn’t Elsie know the truth about Missy’s pregnancy?

If he didn’t take care of Missy, was he supposed to let Missy send Elle to jail?
He never had a choice! This was just Elsie’s excuse to find someone bow.
Dennis was indignant. “What else, my dear brother?
‘If Elsie were the one sleeping with another man and got pregnant, Would you accept it?”
Ronald felt a surge of anger, picturing Elsie and Bruce together, his eyes reddening.
He said coldly, “She can be with whoever she wants. It’s none of my business!”
“Keep being stubborn! If Elsie falls for someone else, you deserve it just wait and see how anguish you’ll be! With that, Dennis hung up, leaving Ronald fuming..
But was Elsie really not doing well in Novaria?
“What? Mr. York, you’re going to Novaria on a business trip?”
The assistant, who was about to leave, stopped in his tracks and looked at Ronald. “But the project in Novaria is almost finished. The local team can handle it.”
Ronald didn’t look up from signing documents, replying casually, “There are some things I need to handle personally.”
In Ronald’s mind, the image of Elsie constantly lingered–her lips pressed together in defiance, stubbornly gazing at him with eyes brimming with tears, resolutely refusing to let them fall.
If Elsie wasn’t doing well in Novaria, as her ex–husband, he should at least check on her out of humanitarian concern, right?
The assistant thought through the Novaria project and insisted, “It’s not necessary…”
But seeing Ronald’s determined look, he changed his tune. “I’ll book your flight right away, Mr. York.”
Elsie’s life in Novaria was peaceful. She did her rehab exercises, chatted with Naomi, arranged flowers, and enjoyed a leisurely life.
But a phone call shattered that peace.
