Chapter 22
Nash sighed. ‘Does your grandma know about this?”
Elsie nodded, waving her hands. “Yeah, she knows and she’s on board with me divorcing Ronald.”
Raina stared at Elsie in shock, then fainted,
Nash and Elsie were both startled and quickly rushed Raina to the hospital.
Elsie stayed by Raina’s side all night. Nash tried several times to persiade her to go home and rest, but she refused.
Elsie felt a bit guilty. Although Raina’s fainting wasn’t entirely her fault, she knew she had a part in it. If she just went home to sleep, she would be too consumed by guilt to rest.
Raina had a history of health issues.
Elsie was sitting by the bed, lost in thought, when Ronald stormed in grabbed her arm, and dragged her out of the room.
Raina had woken up, and Nash had gone home to fetch some clothes for her, leaving no one to stop Ronald.
Elsie couldn’t even make a sound, and her struggles were no match for Ronald’s strength.
Ronald dragged Elsie to the hospital stairwell.
He had flown back from Novaria overnight, not even changing his clothes before coming to the hospital.
He gazed at Elsie fiercely. “How could you be so vicious as to infuriate Raina to the point of hospitalization?”
Elsie barely had time to steady herself before Ronald shoved her against the wall.
Her arm scraped against the wall, drawing blood.
Ronald felt a pang of guilt but quickly hardened his expression as he remembered that Elsie had caused Raina’s illness.
Elsie clutched her arm, glaring defiantly at Ronald, her gestures full of anger.
“Ronald, are you crazy? What right do you have to be mad at me? I stayed with Raina all night. Where were you?”
“Were you with Missy?”
Ronald punched the wall, the sound loud.
Trapping Elsie between his arms, he stared into her eyes, trying to understand what she was thinking.
“Bringing up Missy again? Can you stop being so jealous? Elsie, can’t you cherish what you have acquired a bit?”
Ronald thought, I compensated Missy for you and I made her swallow her pride for you. I even didn’t seek justice for Missy because of you.‘
I’ve done so much for you. What more do you want? Do you want to make things so bad that you end up in jail? Will that make you happy?‘
Ronald’s expression was complex, and Elsie couldn’t understand what he was trying to convey.

But Ronald grabbed her again.
His voice was icy. “Isn’t all this just to get a divorce? Fine, Ill give you what you want?
Elsie stopped in her tracks, turning to look at Ronald, unsure if he was serious
“Really?” she gestured, her hands trembling slightly.
Ronald brushed past Elsie, took the latest divorce agreement from his assistant, and tossed it at her.
Elsie caught it, still in disbelief. The thing she had longed for was finally in her hands?
She opened it and was surprised by the generous terms. Not only did she get shares, but all the assets she had brought into the marriage were returned to her. There was even a theater included.
She flipped to the last page, took the pen from the assistant, and signed it without hesitation.
Ronald watched her swift, decisive actions, feeling a sting in his eyes
He snatched the pen from Elsie and quickly signed his name.
With the documents in order, he turned to leave.
But Elsie stopped him.
“Where are you going? We haven’t been to court yet,” she signed firmly.
Ronald tightened his grip on the divorce papers, his brow furrowing. Are you in such a hurry?”
Elsie gave him a determined look. Ronald had delayed this long enough.
If they didn’t finalize the divorce today, who knew when it would happen?
Besides, Raina had fainted upon hearing about it. It was better to get it over with quickly to avoid further incidents.
“Why are you so against divorcing me? You never liked me, right?” Elsie signed, confused. “Why do you resist divorcing me so fervently? Haven’t you never had any affection for me from the beginning? Why are you unwilling to let me go? Do you like me?”
Her questions were like daggers to Ronald’s heart, triggering his sensitive pride.
His expression turned icy, a cold smile on his lips. “You think too highly of yourself. You, a mute, think you deserve my love?”
“I married you out of necessity!”
“Divorce? I’ve been waiting for this!”
“Get the car. We’re going to court!”
They both wore cold expressions as they headed to the courthouse, not speaking a word during the process.
After completing the paperwork, they entered the mandatory cooling off period.

Standing outside the courthouse, the sunlight hit Elsie’s face.
Her momentary joy stung Ronald’s eyes.
Was she really that happy to leave him?
“Hope you don’t regret this later! he snapped..
Elsie felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders, almost making her feel like she could fly.
She looked at Ronald, her smile unwavering, showing him kindness for the first time in months.
“You too. Her gestures were graceful and delicate.
With that, Elsie walked away, as if heading towards a bright future,
Ronald watched her leave, falling silent.
He suddenly remembered how, when they first got married, Elsie would cling to him every chance she got.
Countless times, he had woken up in the middle of the night to find her tracing his features with love in her eyes.
The intense, passionate love in her eyes could have overwhelmed him.
