Chapter 27
As the president of the York troup, how could he be outdone by a po dolor?
Elsie would regret it sooner or later!
“Should we keep the private investigator on Ms. Forbes? Teddy asked cautiously.
Who knew such a simple question would infuriate Ronald.
He suddenly lost his temper, glaring at Teddy with a fierce look. What do you think? Should I follow her myself?
Teddy forced a smile and silently opened a job search app.
Ronald suddenly seemed quite neurotic. He really wanted to quit his job.
On the other side, after Elsie recovered, she didn’t rush to leave. Instead, she played piano pieces for the children at the sanatorium. just like before.
She also practiced her finger techniques in the process.
Suddenly, she received a video call from Monica.
Elsie was a bit surprised; it was the first time Monica had called her via video.
She answered the call immediately.
Monica’s kind face appeared on the screen.
“Elsie, hold the phone a bit farther away so I can see you.”
The children around noticed Elsie was on the phone and sensibly ran off to play elsewhere.
Elsie placed the phone on the piano stand, stepping back so her upper body was visible in the video.
She suddenly understood Monica wanted to communicate directly with her.
“Good, just like that. I can see you clearly!” Monica said, her smile widening as she looked at Elsie’s obedient demeanor. “Where are you? Why aren’t you back at the Forbes Villa to keep me company?
Elsie smiled gently and gestured, “I’ve been staying at a friend’s place for a few days. I came back to visit them.”
A translation voice immediately followed from the other end.
“I’m so jealous of your friends. I don’t even compare to them, do I?”
Hearing Monica’s teasing tone, Elsie knew she wasn’t angry.
She didn’t want anyone to know about her treatment at the sanatorium, not even Monica. “I’ll come see you in a few days?”
Monica’s eyes lit up. “That would be wonderful! You must come!”
Elsie smiled warmly and nodded. Before she could ask why Monica had called, Monica spoke again. “Are you really divorcing Ronald?”

Elsie nodded, not saying anything for a moment.
Monica looked regretful. I always thought Ronald would treat you. I didn’t expect it to end in divorce.
Elsie’s smile didnt waver, but her eyes turned a bit cold. She expected Monica to say the usual things about her and Ronald being a perfect match.
But Monica surprised her with a sarcastic remark.
“That fool from the York family doesn’t know how lucky he is. Where else would he find another girl as devoted and sincere as my granddaughter? He’ll regret it sooner or later.“,
A faint smile spread across Elsie’s face.
She gestured confidently, “Who cares if he regrets it? 1 won’t.”
Monica burst into laughter, clapping her hands in delight. “Well said You truly are my excellent granddaughter. You don’t need to stick around for a jerk!”
“Men are nothing. Living well is the best revenge!*
That simple statement broke down all of Elsie’s emotional defenses, making her eyes well up with tears.
Everyone thought she shouldn’t divorce Ronald, that she was foolish for making such a decision.
It was common for men to cheat. He just had a mistress, who happened to be her cousin. And they had an illegitimate child. So
what?
Only Monica respected her decision and firmly told her that men were nothing; nothing was more important than herself!
Right! What could be more important than herself?
Elsie held back her tears and chatted with Monica for a bit before ending the call.
As soon as the call ended, her tears flowed uncontrollably.
A knock on the door made Elsie look up through her tear–filled eyes. It was Bruce.
Bruce, suppressing his heartache, walked over to Elsie and gently patted her shoulder. “If you’re sad, don’t hold it in. It’s okay to
cry.”
Elsie lifted her small face, tears streaming down like pearls. She choked up as she gestured. “I’ve decided to stay for treatment.”
Just as Monica said, as long as she lived well, that was all that matters.
From today on, she would love herself!
Meanwhile, Missy left Ronald’s office but didn’t rush home. Instead, she wandered around the York Group Building as if inspecting her territory.
She even insisted on entering restricted areas until security politely escorted her out.
If it had been a man, the ex–military security guards would have thrown him out.
But Missy was pregnant and claimed to be close to Ronald, so the guards didn’t dare offend her.

After venting her frustration from Ronald on others, Missy felt much better.
She called her new best friend.
As soon as the call connected, her friend congratulated her with a flattering tone. ‘Missy, congratulations! I heard Elsie and Mr. York have officially entered the cooling–off period for their divorce. When are you and Mr. York getting married and having the wedding?
Her close friend was also a mistress kept by a man of influence. Last night, while making love to him, she overheard him mention it and remembered.
Missy was stunned, then filled with joy.
Really? Elsie and Ronald were really in the cooling–off period?
She wanted to ask but pretended to be happy. I was just about to tell you!”
She deliberately spoke coyly, “You know, with my baby bump, it’s hard to find a suitable wedding dress. Ronald said we should register the marriage first and have the wedding after the baby is born.”
Her friend’s voice was full of envy. “You’re so lucky!”
As mistresses, who could be as fortunate as Missy, not only driving away the original wife but also having a child?
Once Missy married into the wealthy family, she would embrace a life of luxury.
