Chapter 29
“Are you nuts? Why should I apologize to them? Missy looked like he was about to blow a fuse, pointing a finger at Brune with a face full of disbelief.
“Given the hurtful words you uttered, you owe an apology.”
Bruce’s tone was firm, leaving no room for argument, and his strong stance made Missy’s face twist even more.
Missy retorted, “I’m not apologizing! Do you even know who I am? What gives you the right to demand an apology from me?”
Missy noticed more and more people gathering around, most of them siding with Elsie. She was starting to worry she might end up on the losing side here.
She grabbed her bag and turned to leave, but noticed a young man suddenly standing behind her.
It was the same guy who had helped her earlier.
Albert looked at her coldly, his voice icy, “Apologize!”
“What are you all trying to do? I’m pregnant! Are you really going to bully a pregnant woman? Do you want me to expose you all online? Missy continued to shout defiantly.
Bruce and Albert both had expressions that said, “Suite yourself, but you need to apologize now.”
Elsie stepped forward, tugging on Bruce’s hand and shaking her head
She didn’t mind being insulted; she’d been called names countless times growing up. And ever since she married Ronald, she faced daily verbal abuse.
So being insulted was nothing new to her. But if her presence caused the sanatorium to be attacked online, she couldn’t accept that.
Bruce firmly held Elsie’s hand, shaking his head resolutely.
He understood Elsie’s concerns but wouldn’t allow anyone to belittle her.
Bruce said firmly, “You must apologize, or I’ll have to call the police!
“Yeah! You have to apologize! Admitting your mistakes and apologizing is what good kids do!” Several children chimed in.
Elsie’s heart warmed instantly, a smile unconsciously forming on her lips as she squeezed Bruce’s hand in return.
Being protected felt really good.
Missy’s face turned even paler, seeing more people gathering around. Seeing Elsie’s smiling face, a flash of panic crossed her eyes.
Could this all be Elsie’s scheme? Was she deliberately provoking her, manipulating these people to help her get revenge, and then causing her to miscarry?
So Elsie could rightfully return to being Ronald’s wife?
The more Missy thought about it, the more she felt she had seen through Elsie’s plot.
All she wanted now was to escape.

She suddenly shouted loudly, I’m sorry!
Then, taking advantage of everyone’s momentary distraction, she dashed past Albert and ran outside.
Bruce and the others had no interest in chasing het.
Elsie looked at Molly in Bruce’s arms, a hint of worry in her eyes,
Molly had been learning to read lips recently. How much of Missy’s harsh words had she understood?
Elsie gently pinched Molly’s chubby cheek, her hands moving softly, Molly, were you scared today?”
Molly shook her head, her chubby hands signing, “Albert protected me. I shouldn’t have run around and bumped into her.”
Bruce smiled, ruffling Molly’s fluffy hair, speaking clearly, “It wasn’t your fault. You didn’t do it on purpose, right?”
The three of them looked like a family, making Albert stand silently on the side.
Just then, Elsie waved at Albert. When he looked over, she signed with her hands, “Thank you for protecting me today.”
Albert’s gaze shifted away, remaining silent for a long moment before nodding.
The latest tablet model was smashed to the ground by Ronald as the screen was playing a video.
It was footage of Missy’s confrontation with Elsie at the sanatorium, secretly recorded by a private investigator.
The video ended with Bruce holding Molly, holding Elsie’s hand, and Elsie smiling warmly.
The scene effortlessly conveyed to any onlooker the impression of a harmonious family.
Ronald’s anger surged, causing him to smash the tablet.
Just then, his phone rang.
Without looking, Ronald answered it.
He needed something to distract him, or he feared he might confront Elsie.
Was her love so fickle and cheap? Could she easily switch boyfriends?
As soon as he answered, Missy’s tearful voice came through.
“Ronald, you have to stand up for me! Elsie and her boyfriend tried to harm my baby!”
Ronald thought of the video, his face turning icy.
Missy had gone there and said unpleasant things. Wasn’t it right for her to apologize?
And how did she know that man was Elsie’s boyfriend? What basis did she have for saying that?
He scoffed and was about to hang up.

But then Missy cried out again
*1 treated her like my own sister. She had someone rape me, and I didn’t even call the police. How could she do this to me? How could she be so heartless?”
Her sobs echoed in Ronald’s wars, causing his hand, which was about to hang up the phone, to pause.
He felt like Missy had hit his nerve.
Images of Elsie in Bruce’s arms flashed in his mind, painfully vivid.
He had done so much to keep Elsie out of jail and to appease Missy Why was Elsie treating him like this?
His tone suddenly became eerily gentle.
“Don’t be upset. It’s bad for the baby. You haven’t gone shopping in a while, right? Take your friends and have a good time. Use my
card.”
“Really?” Missy’s voice was noticeably happier.
She had struggled through innumerable hardships to become Ronald’s wife, all for the sake of basking in wealth and luxury.
Ronald said, “Yes, as long as you’re happy. I’ll have my assistant send you a secondary card.”
“Okay, I knew you were the best, Ronald.”
Missy happily hung up and contacted her friend Josie Wilson to go shopping.
That night, Ronald quietly arrived at the sanatarium, facing no obstacles as he reached Elsie’s bedside.
He looked at Elsie’s delicate face in the moonlight.
He fell silent, realizing he hadn’t looked at her so closely in a long time.
When had she become so beautiful?
