Chapter 148
Chapter 148
Knightly
Files upon files erupt on the holo display. Roman and Violetta stand as we catch glimpses of some of the most deadly catastrophes ever to hit South America. Assassinations, artificial floods, and fires that caused millions of lives and nationwide panic. Things that make what we did for the wraith look
like amateur work.
“Holy shit,” Perry is the first to speak.
“Alpha Sector Four,” Phoebe says, pointing at something at the bottom of the files. She reaches for it, and the sensor catches the movement, bringing the file to the top.
On the holo, there is a picture of her mother, all of her acting lieutenants, and established heirs with her at the very top. I tap on her name, and a whole lot of information on Phoebe comes up. Everything I’ve been struggling to get my hands on.
“What the fuck is this?” Perry zooms in.
The file reads lost assignment. Phoebe Reidly Nelson. Transfer to Alpha Sector Sixteen. Experiment Mutation Alpha One. Knightly.
“Because we’re mates,” Phoebe takes my hand. “What the fuck? What is all of this?”
“What I was telling you about,” Perry reaches for the equipment she brought with her. “Rome helped me code all of this, so they can’t track it.”
He doesn’t hesitate.
“Let’s break this down,” I motion Vy and Baby over. “Separate assassinations and tribe executions. If you can get the names of who ran the missions, !
want them.”
“Do we want the devices used for the artificial weather shit?” Vy asks as her hands move through the files.
“Yes, please.”
“I’m going to make some coffee. This is way above my pay grade,” Phoebe clears her throat and spins away to leave the room. Perry looks up at me worriedly.
“There are more targets in our sector,” Roman says.
“Get the names and contact information. Perry, we should send guards to these packs to ensure they don’t take them out.” I tell her.
“On it,” she agrees and is on her phone the next moment. “Okay, Princess of Darkness. You’re up. I need you and your team to ensure these alpha assholes don’t get killed. Anyone trying is kill on sight.”
“I’ve got faces to the assigned.” Baby pushes the files over to her.
“Good job, Baby. I’m sending you pictures, your highness. Yes, this is what I’m keeping you alive for. Now do your fucking job and eat the people coming for them.” she pauses rolling her eyes. “Please.”
“Six alphas. Five to go.” Roman says.
“Our codes are up. They’re going to know this disappeared from their-” Perry pauses.
“What’s happening?” I ask.
“They’re updating.” She stands up, looking everything over. “Did you add the codes from the new programs?”
“I did.” Roman nods.

Chapter 148
“They can’t tell,” she grins. “They’re updating the data.”
The new files come up compromised. Standby instructions are set.
“Okay. Target the players,” I order. “Send out the hunters.”
“Fuck yes,” Violetta beams. She takes out her laptop and starts working on it.
“Wait.” Perry stops her. “Send Lily.”
“The vamps?” Vy growls.
“If we send our players, they’ll know it’s us. We must keep this information on lockdown for as long as possible. Maybe we can locate the other sectors. Send the vamps. Pay them double the amount we usually offer. Some of these are genetically enhanced, like Knight. She can keep them. Perry looks over at me. “I want to know what was done to them, and she’s the only crazy P
we know who can do that.”
“We’re putting a lot of faith in them, Kid.” I sha
my
head.
“But she’s right.” Roman groans. “As much as I hate to admit it. We have to keep this as
“Do it,” I agree.
as we can. And the vamps will move faster.”
“Look at that. Tech support is getting along,” Vy teases.
“Fuck you.” they both growl at her.
“Lilith’s accepted. She’s sending out two teams now. Orders are half what we pay dead, full amount alive.” Baby says.
“Tell her to send two more. We’ll pay. Arnold and I had trouble with the one team that took out Rizen. They were trained like shadows, but they didn’t have the power.”
“That is definitely information we need at the moment,” Perry says. “Prince dumbass is going in as backup in case they fail. He knows to stay back and observe. Instructions are to take over if they start looking like casualties.”
“Okay,” I agree. “They had pretty standard weapons. Teams of three. Triangle formations. Did they get a shipment of the street wear?”
“Yeah, along with some gear. Keeping the vamps happy is in my best interest right now. Blood Ridge is in the middle of a war with the other alphas and the hunters. The last thing I need is to add more fangs to this shit show.” Violetta sighs.
“You have to tell the others,” I say. She tenses up and glares at me.
“You’re a dick,” she growls.
“Look at this shit,” I growl back. “I get it. You know I do. And Barnes is strong, but he doesn’t know what we’re involved in. This could impact him if you get caught. He needs to let us in.”
“What’s going on?” Roman asks.
“You know I’m right,” I say when she keeps her stare on me. She breaks away and turns to the others.
“Alpha Barnes is my mate,” she says quietly. “No one else can know. He’s an enemy of the pack, and even with the alliance in place, my father wants him dead. I didn’t say anything because it’s my face all over the Syndicate shit. I ran the numbers, recruited, and executed everything the Wraith wanted me to. I know that out of all of us, this shit would come and bite me in the ass more than the rest of you because I literally know everything.”
“We can’t be hiding anything this big from each other,” Perry sighs. “This is how we lost the Rogue King and Darren. Keeping secrets from each other and them. I’m not a big fan of Barnes because he likes to stick his big ass nose in shit he has no business in, but that doesn’t mean I want him dead. Take the Gama–Rank hunters and plant them around him. If they can get into his pack, even better. We need to start branding again.”
“I agree,” I tell her. “This is big. We must pinpoint the other sectors and determine how many more there are. For now, we know there are sixteen.

Chapter 148
“Right here,” we all look over at Phoebe. She’s holding a coffee press and a tray with foam cups and coffee stuff. She walks up to the table and reaches in to pull up an image. “Seven sectors. The double numbers are the additions. But nine were terminated. Whoever made this likes colors. They color coated them. I saw it when Perry was making the colors change.”
“You’re a fucking genius,” Perry praises her. “Holy shit. She’s right. Everything is color–coated. I thought it was just the holo.”
“So did 1,” I admit. “Good eye, Angel.”
“What! miss?” she asks. We all look at one another.
“Nothing, apparently,” Roman smiles. “We were going to do this manually. Without the colors.”
I accept it because what am I supposed to tell her? We just sent some vampires and Lycans to take out what might be your mother’s assassins to protect the alphas we’re not responsible for? And for what, really? What are our responsibilities to this sector?
“What are sectors for?” I ask. Perry sits back and shrugs.
“I’m not entirely sure. I’ve been watching them. My father granted me a limited amount of access. It looks like they’re weeding out the weakest supernaturals in each sector. There are thousands of creatures we know nothing about out there.
“This sector under the wraith’s control was focusing on immortality. It’s why the vampires are baited with the human regions like Cali and Magique. We can catch them and see what makes them tick because they’re attacking our cattle. That’s what made the Blakes so popular“.
“Why my father wanted Freddy gone,” I groan. “Is he a part of this?”
“Yeah, he’s the alpha general of the sector. As of now, we’re the acting royalty. It all belongs to us.”
“What are we talking about? How big a territory?” Vy asks.
“From the Canadian border to the border of Guatemala. The US and Mexico are all Sector Sixteen.”
