“Okay,” she nods and lets out a heavy sigh. “Ayrie is sensitive, but she’s got this uncanny ability to forgive so, you just have to make sure she knows you’re trying. The best thing you can do for her is tell her the truth. She won’t understand, but if you say it with sincerity she’ll see you’re serious,”
“And Aizen?”

“Aizen,” she clears her throat and grins. “Aizen is a lot harder to please. He adores Ayrie. They’re best friends and to get him to trust you, you need to show him that you can be trusted with Ayrie. Her, you can buy something cute and she’ll love you. He will look you dead in the eyes and walk away from you and your gift without giving a single fuck,”
“Really?” I laugh.
“I’ve seen him do it. He also doesn’t talk as much as she does, but he’s very observant. He’s mysterious and it’s the cutest thing in the entire world,” she says proudly.
“Thank you,” I nod.
“Do you want to talk to them?”
“Is she still upset?”
“Okay, Ayrie is- she takes a deep breath. “Ever since she was a baby, she has this sense. There are people who she can’t be around. I didn’t know what it was. We went through a bunch of protection beads. But I’m guessing it’s her little werewolf senses,”
“Oh,” that’s intriguing.
“She calls them the bad people. Maybe it’s the strength of the other shifters that she finds dangerous and that’s what Aizen picks up on with her. He completely trusts her instincts,”
“Yeah, that’s exactly what they’re picking up on,” I agree. “I will try my best to keep the alpha down,”
“Okay,” she smiles and pushes the door open.
The two of them are sitting by the coffee table topped with all her work. She sees me hesitate and takes my hand to lead me inside. My wolf instantly relaxes with her hand in mine. Aizen glares up at me, but Ayrie, my sweet little princess looks up at me with her cute little puppy eyes.
“Hey,” I crouch down in front of her letting go of Phoebe’s hand. “I’m sorry I scared you. I didn’t mean to do that,”
“Vous partez?”
“D.A.D. doesn’t speak French, Ayrie,” Phoebe takes a seat on the floor between them. Aizen makes himself comfortable next to her but he doesn’t take his eyes off me.
“Are you going to leave again because I was naughty?” she asks quietly. I sit down in front of her. She doesn’t hesitate to crawl onto my lap.
“No, Sweetness,” I take her little hand in mine. “I’m never going to leave you. Either of you,” I look up at Aizen and Phoebe. “But there will be times when I have to go to keep the three of you safe,”
“Why?” she asks.
“Well, because I’m a wolf,” I say truthfully. Aizen straightens up and crawls closer to us.
“Like a werewolf?” he asks. “Like Scott McCall?”
“More like Derek Hale,” Phoebe answers. They both gasp and look up at me completely enthralled by that statement.

“You turn into a big puppy?” Ayrie asks.
“Yes,” I say and glance over at Phoebe.
“I’ll explain later,” she mouths:
“And sometimes I have trouble with it,”
“Does it hurt?” Aizen asks placing his hand on my forearm.
“Not always,”
“Can we see?” Ayrie giggles.

She reaches up to place her hands on my face. Without my permission, my wolf surges forward. Her little eyes widen, but there’s no fear. When I turn my attention to Aizen he slowly reaches for me as well. His fingers trace around my eyes and then looks back at Phoebe.
Phoebe looks scared. Her body tenses up tightly and her eyes fill with tears. I think it’s finally registered for her that this isn’t just talk. She looks away wiping her eyes trying to hide how scared she is. My wolf doesn’t like it and retreats immediately.
“That’s cool,” Aizen says sitting back. “You’re Mommy’s friend?”
“Yes, and I am your dad,”
“Where were you?” he doesn’t hesitate to ask.
“My job is very dangerous for two pups. Mommy and I decided that it would be best if I stayed away for a while so that you two could grow up safe,”
“Why did you come back?”
“Because it’s not safe for us to be alone anymore,” Phoebe answers when I struggle to come up with anything reliable. “He helped us when we left the apartment,”
“But it was just Kenny,” he looks back at her. She crawls over to us and lifts him up onto her lap.
“I know,” she nods. “Kenny isn’t our friend anymore. She’s not safe. So, if you ever see her or her brother Ruin. You find me or you find your dad. Both of
you,”
“Okay, Momma,” he nods and twirls her hair between his little fingers.
“I know Dad seems a little scary, but he can keep us safe. He’s your Dad and I trust him,”
“Me too,” Aryie nods. “Daddy is super warm,”
“Are we like you?” he asks.
“Yes, but you’re still very young,” I nod.
“Does it hurt?” Ayrie asks.
“No,” I shake my head.
“You said yours hurts,” Aizen chimes in.
“I did. It does for me because I haven’t been able to shift in a really long time. To keep your Mommy safe, I stopped being a werewolf so that the other
werewolves wouldn’t find her,”
“Mommy’s a werewolf too?” Ayrie asks.

“No,” I smile. “Mommy is a human and we have to make sure she’s safe,”
“Why would the other werewolves try to hurt Mommy?” Aizen asks.
“Because of me. Because when I am a werewolf I’m very very strong. They know that Mommy makes me super strong and there are others who don’t
want that,”
