“Dad is going to kill you, Nate,” Neo says as we drag the alphas we just killed back to Perry’s G–Wagon. Perry and I both laugh.
“I told you not to come.” I hoist the first body up while Roman holds open a body bag. ” Come on, Rome. Pack life making you soft?”
“Fuck you. Her majesty here was late,” he growls at Perry. “And then she leaves the bags in the car.”
“Hey, I have an entire race to run. And I’m a little distracted,” she scoffs and zips up Neo’s bag. She lifts it and tosses the dead alpha into the back.
“More than usual?” I ask, taking the cleaning kit from the back seat.
“You’re in a mood yourself,” Neo snatches the rubbing alcohol from me.
“Why?” Roman and Perry ask in unison, happy that the drama has shifted to me.
Neo holds out the bottle for us. Roman comes over, so.Neo pours it over our hands. Once I get the blood off, I take the bottle to help him. It’s been a long time since I’ve hung out with my youngest brother. I’ve miss him, but I’m waiting for him to say some fucked up shit to me that’s going to put some distance between us for a couple more years the way he usually does. It’s been a good day.
“It’s none of your business.” I shrug and reach for a cloth.
“You should know that Ash is out to get Phoebe.” And here we go. “No one likes how close they’re getting.”
“Add me to that list. Phoebs is just keeping him distracted. He’s waiting to see if I’m going to be able to get a place on the council. I’m still trying to figure out his game here. If anyone hurts my mate, I’m killing all of you.”
“Nate-”
“I’m serious. Tell her that when you see her. She’s mine,” I warn him.
“It just looks a certain way, Nathan,” he says when I open the passenger door.
Perry looks up at me from the other side, equally confused.
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” I slam the door shut and go around to face him.
“Nothing,” he scoffs and starts to walk back toward his car. “This is why I hate talking to your ass. You’re just like him.”
“Neo, what the fuck are you talking about?” I demand. Roman steps in front of him to block his path.
“Nathan, you don’t know this shit because you ran away from him. Yeah, what he did to

you was fucked, but there’s a reason for it. Dad is power. He earned all this shit. You’re a rock superstar, man. You know bitches don’t stay with us because we’re ideal mates.”
It takes me a moment to piece together what he’s trying to imply about my mate and my father. I start to laugh. Even Roman and Perry join in. I can’t believe what I’m hearing right now. I knew he came along for this ride along for a reason but this is fucking ridiculous.
“You mean like your mom.” I nod. “How Dad had me hunt her down when she left you behind and took ten mil from his safe? That’s what you’re accusing my mate of?”
“She fits the profile. Maybe she’s not, but it doesn’t change who he is. Your pups are strong. Starting with Ayrie. She’s stronger and better than you ever have been, and she hasn’t even shifted yet.”
“You’re all fucking sick,” I scoff. “Come near my mate with intent to hurt her and I’ll fucking end you.”
“Ask yourself why she hasn’t marked you then,” he smirks.
I get into the G–wagon with Perry. The three of us wait for him to leave. Perry stays still for a while before starting the car. My ears ring, and my heart pounds in my chest with
rage.
“Knight-” she tries.
“I don’t want to talk about it. I know that’s not how things are.” I swallow the anger
down.
We arrive at the next destination to find Violetta and Baby ready with the remaining pillars we’ll use to hang the alphas up. I push the disgusting image Neo just put in my head back and focus on the task at hand.
“What’s wrong with you?” Violetta asks when I cut through the body bags with my
claws.
“Don’t,” Perry warns her. “Knight, we have to talk about this.”
“No, we fucking don’t,” I growl at her.
“That’s why you’re being pissy, isn’t it?” she continues to push.
“Stop, Perry,” I warn her. “I hate that you’re obsessing again.”
“Phoebe isn’t like that.” she shrugs.
“I know she isn’t.”
“Then why are you so upset?” she demands.
“Because it’s in my fucking head now,” I shout. “On top of everything else. This is in my fucking head now whether its true or not. How would you feel if I accused your mate of what he just accused my mate of, hm?”
“Phoebe isn’t like that. You know that. We know that. I’m sure if you asked her-”

“I shouldn’t have to ask her. She should want to. I’m her mate. This isn’t the first time
she stops herself from going through with it. I don’t even want to be me why the fuck would she want to be with me?”
“Knight,” she chokes out. I pull away when she reaches for me.
“I need to finish this. I just want to finish this mission, Perry.”
“Okay,” she nods and goes over to the body to help me tie it up.
“You’re an idiot.” Violetta laughs at her.
“Shut up,” we both say.
The others work quietly, and I don’t blame them. I was already in a mood, but hearing my brother speak that way about Phoebe just made it that much worse. Of course, I know she’s not here to seduce my father. That’s hilarious. What the fuck is my dad doing here?
I set up the tripods and hook up the disposable cameras to them so that we can stream the lists of crimes these alphas have committed against every rogue since the death of the former King. A message to let others like my mate and me know that they‘ re not alone anymore.
I turn around to see the Court’s plaza below. As always, it’s swarming with people. Two bodies on each pillar of every house are presented. The others join me as we finish the final touches on the stream. Perry links all the cameras, bringing up all six images.
“The ol‘ burn them on their home front. Classic.” Baby skips over and hands me a pen. Click it, Knight. May the rebellion rise again.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Roman laughs.
I click the pen and start the stream. We get in the car as the sirens Violetta and Baby set up blare. We head up higher to watch the guards scramble. We watch as the views flood in from the big ass luxury screen on Perry’s dashboard.
“This is nice,” Roman compliments her.
“Thank you. It was a gift from my mother–in–law.” Perry beams.
“The one in your prison?” I ask.
“Yeah, where’s your mother–in–law?” she fires back.
“Rotting in a hole somewhere. I think,” I laugh. It’s a sore spot for her.
“Yeah, well, mine too. I just happen to own the ditch she’s in and I gave her my black card and got her a sweet ass PC setup,” she sticks her tongue out at me. “She’s my sister.”
“Who?” we all ask.
“Your mother–in–law?” Baby shouts from the back seat.
“Phoebe,” she says quietly. I sit up, forgetting the live.

“What the fuck?” I blurt out.
“When I ran her DNA, I ran her mom’s. I didn’t think to run my own, and when I finally broke through the wall, I listened to the video. He told her my dad’s story. So I ran a strand she left behind, and I kept, and yeah. She’s my father’s daughter.”
“That’s fucking crazy.” Roman snorts.
“And fucking creepy. Why the fuck did you keep the hair? What the hell is wrong with you?” Violetta glares at her.
“Same page club.” Baby laughs.
“Guys.” Perry turns all the way to face all of us. “I have a sister that I can actually know.”
“And then she says shit like that and we totally get why she’s so fucking weird.” Violetta sighs. She’s the first to lean forward to hug her. “Dude, I’m so happy for you. You’re going to be a bad ass sister.”
“How do you know that?” she shakes her head.
“How many times did I tell you to fuck off when we first met and you still showed up in my life when I least expected it?” I ask her.
“That’s exactly what being a little sister is,” Violetta points back at Baby. “Not to
mention you have practice. I think you’re a great sister.”
