Knight has his sister tied up in a chair while he calls his father. She’s coming around, and the twins are very curious about her. I’m not sure how to handle the situation. Dol tell the twins to go back to their room or start dinner? I’m starving. I’m sure this might not be the only time they’re going to see things like this. I really have to re–evaluate how we’re moving forward.
“What. The. Fuck. Are you?” she growls, and I sigh. They definitely can’t stay here if she’s going to be a potty mouth.
“Guys, I need you to go hang out in your room,” I stand. “I’ll start dinner.”
“Yes.” Aizen takes Ayrie’s hand and begins to pull her away.
“Tu es très beau,” she tells her aunt as they walk past me. She flips her hair. “Like me.”
I laugh because she’s right. Ashley Knightly looks just like an adult version of my tiny spawn. I can see it in her eyes. Her sharp features. The beautiful chocolate waves. And just like the original, jade green eyes. Arnold Knightly has some really strong
genes.
“Nate, let me go,” she demands as I start on dinner.
“Is she staying for dinner?” I ask.
“Yes, Baby. My father and my brothers are also on their way.”
“Oh, shit. I don’t have enough for the many people. I’ll run down to the deli.” I inform
him.
He looks back at me and nods. He is beyond annoyed. It makes me laugh because he looks just like my son when Ayrie is on his last nerve. I get my things and change out of my now ruined suit. When I’m done, I go over to his sister. Her eyes stay on me as I push my claws out.
“Get away from me,” she growls.
“If you try to attack me while my kids are here. I am going to let my wolf eat you like she intended before our mate stopped us. I can still taste your blood on my tongue, and she loves her meat fresh.”
“Phoebe,” Knight warns me.
“Come on. Your dad would be very disappointed in her if she made an ass of herself again. I’m embarrassed for her. She’s been a wolf girl a lot longer than me.” I go around
her.
He grins and shakes his head before motioning for me to continue. My claws cut through the rope easily. It freaks me out a little because I don’t know what I would
need these for. And then I look down at the woman freeing her legs from the chair, and
it’s more than clear why I would need these.

I turn my back to her, but a part of me is very aware of her movements and distance from me. I pick up the pieces of rope and take them to the trashcan. I take my reusable totes from the kitchen and stop at the door.
“You really want to sit here with him while he deals with political shit?” I point at Knight.
She looks between me and him and groans before going past me. I stay behind her as we make our way to the elevator. I laugh when we walk past the bloodstain her face left on the cream–shade rug. The doors open to reveal Lillies and Perry.
“Hey, guys.” I grin and step inside to hug my cousin.
“Where you headed?” she asks, but her eyes are on Ashley.
“Mini–mart. We’re having guests over for dinner. Ashley here took the liberty of introducing herself and a couple of Knight’s brothers. Want to join?”
“Yup,” the two of them agree, and the doors shut.
“Oh, Ashley. This is my cousin Perry Prince and her personal assistant. Lillies. I don’t remember your last name.”
“Never gave it to you,” Lillies answers and doesn’t offer to give it up now.
“Okay. Guys, this is Ashley Knightly. Knight’s little sister.”
“I know, Ashley,” Perry says. “We go way back.”
“Right, you and Knight are glued at the hip.” I nod. “Just being polite. Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, I just have something to talk to you about.” She nods. The doors ping, and Lillies holds her hand out so she can exit the elevator first. She scans the rooms and motions us out. “Are you okay? Midnight almost took over. Jordan told me you hurt yourself holding her back. Where the fuck is Knight? He let you come out here alone after you attacked?”
“I have a gun, and his sister is with me. She also has guns. I can smell it. She’s used it today.”
“How do you know what that smells like?” Ashley scoffs.
“I have fired a gun. Not that long ago, actually. I had to cover your dad so he could shift.”
She misses a step and my asshole little cousin doesn’t hesitate to reach out for her the way one would do to a kid when they trip as hard as she did. She lifts her back up onto her feet and then brushes off her shoulders.
“Gotchu,” Perry smirks. “Watch your step.”
When Ashley steps away from her, she looks around a little disoriented. I don’t blame her. Perry’s aura is a lot like Mr. Knightly’s if there were fifty Arnolds crammed into an elevator with me. It’s offputting and should be taken as a warning. It looks like Ashley caught onto that hint.
“Why did you attack her?” Perry demands. “Do you know who the fuck that is?”

“You’re not a weird Knightly Blake super fan, are you?” I ask. “Like you guys don’t you know Taegaryan love each other, do you?”
“It happens; it’s more of a wolf spirit preference, but no. Incest is not common for us either.” Perry shakes her head. “Lillies does, though. They’re identical.”
“Oh,” I say because why the fuck would she put Lillies‘ business out there like that. Maybe don’t blurt that out ever again. That’s a keep–it–to–yourself secret, Perry. What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“What?” she laughs.
“She’s right, Asshole,” Lillies snorts. “In my defense, we’re one person, but we refuse to kill the other because we’re used to being this way and I’m in love with the part of me that is girly, loves engines, and is obsessed with weird Hello kitty shit. I just don’t want
it inside of me.”
“I’m confused by the trajectory of this conversation,” Ashley shakes her head.
“Me too.” I clear my throat. “Okay. Let’s make this fast. Perry four white onions and a sack of potatoes. Go.” She nods and walks away. “Lillies. Two asparagus bundles. A tub of butter and the blue bottle of parmesan cheese that says Mystic on the label.”
“Got it.” She bows and rushes off.
“You. One full–size bag of rice. Next to it are various spices in boxes, not shakers. Get the red box with a green chicken outline; it also has a picture of a red rice bowl on the front. Get two. Go around that same aisle and get a full set of plastic containers. The ones with the pink lids, please.”
Her jaw flexes, but she walks away anyway. I turn around to get to the meat. My mouth fills with saliva every time I come here because of Midnight. I’ve been sneaking raw pieces for her, and she loves it. She gets all giddy, and I love how easy to please she is.
I’m not sure how I’m supposed to take care of her, but so far, I’ve been treating her the way I would the kids. I ask her what she wants. As I’m making things, she picks out what she likes, and I just go with it.
I order what I need and pick a few more things on the way to the cash register. The others catch up, and I pay as we pack everything into my tote bags.
“You’re such a mom.” Perry holds up one of the bags.
“We were only in there eight minutes,” Ashley points out. “That was amazing.”
“I started doing that with the kids since they started reading. They don’t throw a fit if they’re busy helping, and they’re sneaky.”
“Weren’t you scared that someone might take them?”
“Now, I am, but they know not to talk to anyone when we’re out in public. Paparazzi
suck anywhere and they scream if someone insists. They also bite. I wouldn’t let them out of my sight if they were here with me now. This wolf shit is crazy.”

“It is for us,” Perry shrugs. “She wouldn’t get it. She’s a very well–regarded beta. The worst thing to ever happen to her is being Arnold Knightly’s baby princess. She’s here because she thinks you’re fucking their dad. Aka, she can’t stand when she’s not the center of his attention and will use any excuse to lash out.”
“She could have killed you,” Lillies says and points at me. “That’s a silverback.”
Ashley stops walking. I turn back to motion her forward. The last thing we need is to get shot at out here. She stares at me for a moment and then starts to walk again. No one says a word as we head up. Once in the apartment, Perry and Knight gravitate to the study as I start dinner. Her reaction to the news and the way Lillies said it has now piqued my interest. What the fuck am I?
