Chapter 3
I collapsed to the ground, my eyes meeting theirs. In their gazes, I saw how pitiful and broken I had become.
Blood slowly dripped from my palm, the deep cuts Carol had left were the last thing he gave me.
I had been an orphan since childhood, and it was Alpha Anderson’s father, the old Alpha, who had taken me in out of pity.

But I never expected the Moon Goddess to designate me as Alpha Anderson’s mate.
For three years after our marriage, Alpha Anderson had been cold and distant. It was only after Carol was born that he started showing me the slightest bit of kindness.

The candy was wrinkled, with signs of having melted, clearly something the boy had been unwilling to eat, keeping it close in his hand.
How ironic. My son called a woman who destroyed our family “mom,” even going so far as to hurt me and distance himself from me.
Yet this strange little boy was showing me

kindness.
By the time I came to my senses, the boy had already walked away.
Looking at the candy in my hand, I made a decision.
If they didn’t want me, I didn’t need them either. Without them, I would be better off!
