Chapter 17 A Place We Can Never Find
The castle, familiar yet suffocating, stood in front of me, its oppressive presence almost stealing my breath away.

I stood frozen in the living room, my eyes darting between Lucas and our parents. Their faces were as pale as paper, their eyes filled with a mixture of pain and regret.
My parents clung to each other’s hands, their knuckles white, still visibly shaken by the weight of everything that had unfolded.
“We need to find Victoria and get to the bottom of this!” I suddenly stood up, a wave of urgency surging through me. Victoria might know where Alicia had gone.
“She has to know where Alicia is!” I insisted..
Lucas nodded grimly, his voice low. “Yes, let’s go now.”
Just as we were about to leave. Evelyn suddenly stepped in front of us, her face pale and her voice frantic. “Y–you can’t go! If Alicia took the money and left, it means she doesn’t want to return! Why do you still need to search for her? Let me be your daughter and sister from now on, okay?”
“What is this idiot talking about?” Scott growled, his anger flaring up.
My eyes
narrowed, struggling to keep my own rage in check. “Evelyn, stop being ridiculous! Alicia is Mom and Dad’s biological daughter–she’s my sister! What right do you have to replace her?”
Evelyn burst into tears, her voice rising into hysteria. “But you’ve raised me all these years! I’m the one who’s been here for you! And Alicia? She’s just some wild wolf raised in a small pack!”
Without thinking. I raised my hand and slapped Evelyn across the face.
She staggered, crashing heavily to the floor, a bright red handprint blooming on her cheek.
“Shut up!” I shouted, my anger completely uncontained. I couldn’t believe Evelyn had the nerve to say such things. We had given her everything over the years, pampered her, yet she was insulting my real sister like this.
I couldn’t hold back anymore. “Everything we’ve done for you, all these years, was because we thought of you as Alicia’s replacement! But now that we’ve found her, what gives you the right to degrade her like this?”
Evelyn covered her face, sobbing uncontrollably, her cries the sound of a child who had her favorite toy taken from her. “How could you do this to me?”
Lucas, standing to the side, spoke with a hint of impatience, “Evelyn, you know how important Alicia is to us. Why do you keep trying to stop us from finding her?”
He turned to me then, his voice urgent. “Let’s go. We don’t have time to waste.”
Together, Lucas and I hurried, joined by our father, toward the Obsidian Pack’s castle.
Inside, Victoria sat calmly on the sofa, sipping tea. Upon seeing us rush in, her face shifted with a brief look of surprise. “What are you all doing here? What’s happened?”
I approached her quickly, my voice filled with urgency. “Victoria, Alicia Alicia is the missing daughter of the Whites! Did you know this?”
Victoria’s hand trembled, and the cup of tea she was holding slipped from her grasp, crashing to the floor and spilling everywhere
Her face drained of color, and her voice came out in a barely audible whisper. “What? Alicia… is the Whites‘ biological daughter?”
My father nodded swiftly, his voice steady. “Yes, we just found out. Do you know where she went? She took 100 million from you–has she said where she’s headed? We need to find her.”

I fixed my gaze on Victoria, hoping she would tell us where Alicia had gone. I was ready to shift into my wolf form and track her down if she did.
But Victoria’s expression darkened, and panic edged into her voice. “I–I don’t know. When the agreement was signed. Alicia only said she would go to a place where we would never be able to find her.”
“A place we can never find…” Lucas repeated, his voice barely above a whisper, his face paling. “Is this her punishment for us? To ensure we’ll never locate her?”
Lucas’s words struck me like a dagger. The pain in my chest was overwhelming “Alicia could have told us where she was. Why didn’t she? Why torment us like this?”
Victoria stood still for a moment, her eyes suddenly brightening with realization. She quickly rose to her feet. “Wait. Before she left, she did leave something behind. She told me that if anyone asked about her, I was supposed to give this to them.”
