The door slammed shut behind me, and the powerful wolf guards forced me to the ground, making me kneel before them.
Alexander, who had just woken up, shot me a cold, piercing look. His voice was as icy as his gaze.
“Kneel before Evelyn, accept your punishment, and apologize. If you do that, this will all end.”
A bitter laugh escaped me, and I shook my head in disbelief. I haven’t done anything. Why should I apologize?”
Instantly, Alexander’s face darkened, anger radiating from him.
“If it weren’t for you wanting to become Lucas’s mate, he and Evelyn wouldn’t have been torn apart! She wouldn’t have spent her days in tears, and she wouldn’t have run out causing that car accident. If I hadn’t pushed her away, she’d be lying here. You’ve taken what has been rightfully belonged to her. So tell me–why shouldn’t you apologize?”
As his words hung in the air, I looked between him and Evelyn, a bitter laugh escaping me once again. My eyes filled with
tears.
J’She’s just an adopted daughter, isn’t she? You treat her like this–don’t you worry about how it’ll affect your real daughter
when she finds out!”
The moment I spoke, Evelyn’s face drained of color, her lips trembling before she broke into tears.
And just like that, her performance started once more.
Charles’s face turned bright red with rage as he stepped forward and slapped me hard across the face.
The sharp slap echoed throughout the room, and my face immediately swelled, blood trickling from the corner of
my
mouth.
Elizabeth, panic evident in her eyes, used all her strength to force my head down, making me bow. Her voice dripped with
Venom
“Who do you think you are, speaking like that? Yes, she’s adopted, but we’ve treated her like our own daughter for years. You. an outsider, have no right to say anything about it!”
Alexander’s fury surged within him, so he grabbed a cup and threw it at me.
“There is no one on this earth who has the right to speak ill of my sister! Alicia, know your place–you have no right to talk about the Whites!”
Lucas held Evelyn as he tried to comfort her as he looked at me with pure disdain.
“Ever since you arrived in my pack, I haven’t had a moment of peace. The thought of you becoming my mate, being the Luna of my pack, disgusts me. Let me make this clear–no matter what you do to become Luna, I will never accept you. The most important person to me, will now and always, be Evelyn!”
As Lucas finished speaking, Charles–my biological father–grabbed a whip from one of the guards and struck my back with
- it.
The blow landed with a sharp crack, and the pain was immediate. The whip, coated with silver powder, burned my skin and kept the wounds from healing..
They knew that using a silver–laced whip on a werewolf would weaken us, even to the point of death
The sound of each strike echoed in the room, each one a painful reminder of how helpless I was. It felt like a thousand boulders were pressing down on me, suffocating me, leaving me gasping for air.
The pain triggered fragmented memories from my childhood–memories that had faded over the years, memories lost after a high fever.
I was only six or seven at the time, wearing a princess dress as I wandered through a garden, carefree and full of joy.

Lucas was there, holding my hand as they sat together on a swing. His young voice reassured me, offering comfort I’d never forget.
“Don’t be scared. I’ll hold your hand tight and never let go.”
Charles and Elizabeth were nearby, laughing as they gently pushed the swing higher
“Sweetheart, didn’t you always want to pick stars from the sky! We will make sure you can fly up and reach them, but hold on
Alexander was in front of us, camera in hand, taking picture after picture.
“Smile! I want to capture your happiest moment to treasure forever.”
Their laughter was soft and sweet, carried by the breeze.
But suddenly, the faces before me changed, replaced by expressions twisted with hatred and disdain
Tears fell from my eyes like rain, and the pain in my back intensified with each passing second. I could feel the blood flowing. mixing with the sting of the whip.
I gritted my teeth, not allowing a sound to escape my lips.
I didn’t beg for mercy.
And I didn’t cry out.
