Evan didn’t turn around. He merely stopped for a moment before walking out of the suite.
What was up with his attitude? He was Samuel’s uncle, not mine, and we were only eight years apart, not 10 or 20. Why did he always have that holier–than–thou attitude? Couldn’t I get into a relationship at 18?
I arranged the translated documents neatly. After returning to my room, I ruminated over our interaction and grew even more upset. I couldn’t believe he had told me to return to Juville and even said anyone could replace me.
I harrumphed. As if I would be intimidated! Since he didn’t need me, didn’t that mean I could relax and take a good nap? I fell asleep immediately. I slept like a log. I didn’t know how long I slept.
When I was drifting in and out of consciousness, I suddenly heard a loud bang. It sounded like something heavy had fallen.
When I opened my eyes in confusion, I saw Evan walking
toward me from the balcony. The sunset cast a golden halo around him.
The shadows on his face made it hard for me to see his
expression. All I could see was his tall figure approaching me, growing larger the closer he got.
He wasn’t wearing his suit jacket, and his long sleeves were rolled up, revealing his muscular arm. A few beads of sweat
decorated his forehead.
When he leaned down, he looked like he was in a panic. After being stunned for a moment, I quickly sat up.
“Mr. Stafford, why did you come in through the balcony instead of using the door? Don’t you know how dangerous that is? This is the sixth floor. What if you slipped and fell? ”
I didn’t realize that my cleavage was showing, but I noticed that Evan immediately turned around after looking at me.
“Get ready. We’re leaving in ten minutes,” Evan said before leaving through the door.
I hurriedly cleaned up. When I went downstairs, Xavier was
already waiting for me in the car.
