2 Chapter 2
When we arrived at the Winters Estate mansion, the party was just getting started. The birthday girl, Violet, was a vision in her designer gown and flawless makeup, looking absolutely stunning.
Everyone who passed by treated her with the utmost respect, while my parents stayed glued to her side, as if they might lose her if they looked away for even a second.
I used to be the one they doted on like that. I thought I was the luckiest girl in the world, until Violet, who had been missing for ten years, was found and brought back. The first thing she said was:
“Sister, what did Violet do wrong? Why did you abandon me?”
With just one sentence, everyone was led to believe that I didn’t want to share my parents‘ love, so I had orchestrated Violet’s kidnapping.
From that moment on, everyone hated me to the core. My parents saw me as nothing but a thorn in their side, no longer showing me an ounce of affection.
Violet spotted Archer and me, and walked over with a beaming smile:
“Sister, brother–in–law, you finally made it! I was worried you wouldn’t come.”
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she added:

“Your sister isn’t that petty. You don’t need to apologize to her.
Archer also spoke up to comfort Violet, carefully presenting the gift he had prepared to her.
“Violet, this is a gift for you.
Violet smiled as she accepted it, but I noticed something on her wrist- it was the Harrington’s heirloom bracelet.
Only the heir of the Harrington family could possess this bracelet, and they would give it to their beloved.
I once asked Archer why he didn’t give the bracelet to me. He reluctantly told me that the bracelet was lost, and that it was just a material thing that couldn’t represent anything – as long as his heart was with me, that was all that mattered.
Now it seems that wasn’t the case. The Harrington family heirloom bracelet wasn’t lost after all, but Archer gave it to Violet, simply because she was the one his heart had chosen.
My heart felt like it was being scraped layer by layer with a sharp

Knife, piercing me with an agonizing pain.
The stuffiness of the room became unbearable, so I made up an excuse to get some air by the pool in the backyard. To my surprise, Violet followed me out there.
