Meanwhile, I had arrived at a place that was almost cut off from the rest of the world.
It was a small mountain village called Cherry Blossom Village. The people here were simple and genuine, and the scenery was breathtaking, rivaling any tourist destination.
At first, I didn’t know Cherry Blossom Village existed. Five years ago, the car Ethan and I were riding in crashed, plunging both us and the vehicle into a river. We were swept to this place, and the villagers rescued us. It was then, in trying to shield Ethan from harm, that I lost my hearing.
Before leaving the village, Ethan swore he’d marry me when we got back. Yet at the wedding, he proposed to Violet in front of everyone, making me the laughingstock of the entire city.
Now, returning to Cherry Blossom Village, the villagers warmly welcomed me. I used my savings from the past few years to buy a plot of land nearby and built a small log cabin, embracing a rural lifestyle.
Life in the village was simple but fulfilling. My neighbor auntie, always brought me plenty of food. Her children were fond of me too, often keeping me company and bringing joy to my otherwise dull life.
Days passed one by one, and I quickly adapted to life here, truly becoming a part of this community.I found Archer in the most unexpected place.

One day, as I was foraging for wild greens with my elderly neighbor, a black sedan blocked our path.
The window rolled down, revealing Archer’s familiar face.
It had been two months since our last encounter. Archer had lost a considerable amount of weight, his eyes sunken deep into their sockets, his gaze utterly devoid of emotion.
But the moment he saw me, it was as if hope had been rekindled. His eyes lit up, and he hastily exited the car, walking towards me. “Darling, I’ve finally found you.”
I instinctively backed away, eyeing him warily.
“Stay right where you are! Don’t come any closer!”
Archer halted, carefully explaining:
“Darling, I was wrong to hide my feelings for Violet from you. I’ve changed my ways and won’t treat you like that again. Back then, I hadn’t realized I’d fallen for you. I thought I still loved Violet, which is why I made such a foolish mistake.”
“I’ve regained control of Harrington Industries now. I’ve also cut all ties with Violet; she won’t appear in front of you again. Please forgive me and come back to me.“The man’s tone was filled with sincerity, without a hint of insincerity. Yet, as I heard his words,, not a single one seemed believable to me.
It was because those five years of deception had left a deep scar, ensuring I would never trust his words again in this lifetime.
“Let’s not bring up the past. We’re divorced now and have no connection. There’s no point in saying anything more,” I said.

Looking straight into Archer’s eyes, I told him word by word:
“If you think apologizing and trying to make amends will work. I advise you not to waste your energy. The harm you’ve caused me will stay with me forever. I can’t forgive you.”
Archer, who had intended to continue apologizing, was instantly struck dumb upon hearing this. He stared at me blankly, his eyes reddening.
As I prepared to leave with my aunt, he tried to stop me, but I prevented him.
“Archer, you’ve already hurt me once. If you continue to pursue me, you’ll only cause me harm a second time. If you truly care for me, please, just let me go, okay?”
Archer’s expression froze. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he only left with these words:
“I know I was wrong before. I understand you won’t forgive me right now, but I won’t give up. I’ll prove my feelings for you through my actions.“I didn’t acknowledge him and left with my aunt.
In the days that followed, Archer didn’t show up. I thought the matter had blown over, but I never expected someone else would come looking for me.
